--- RILEY WAS ACTUALLY SURPRISED that she wanted to stay for breakfast with him and tatum. he was glad that she was interested in tatum. he was also glad that tatum was interested in her. even if she was only five, tate was very critical who riley brought around the house. he saw so much of coco in her and anyone that had known coco previously, would know riley had his work cut out for him. even though there were obvious coco-tendencies, riley did try and sway her into other activities. she had been growing up with two rowdy uncles so she did have a little tomboy in her... if you consider soccer and football in "princess" outfits a tomboy. riley knew he was still fairly young, but he wanted to start dating again. his love life had been scarce to say the least the past five years. all his focus was on coco and tatum, and then extra attention on tatum after coco left. but, he just wanted to meet someone he liked being around. of course, he could just never meet someone while buying groceries or out in the park. it had to be in his bed. it was the only turner way. even though he did meet kat last night at a bar, it was all fuzzy until this morning when he woke up next to her. and she seemed nice and she wanted to stick around which was good. and he must have been not a total mess if she wanted to come back with him, right?
he got some pancakes finished and made her and himself a plate, poured some syrup over them and he placed her plate in front of her. riley just stood across from them at the counter and leaned over to eat. tatum was laughing when kat told her that they talk like they need to spit. "my daddy says i'm irish. well half. him and uncle regan and uncle reed are from ireland. right, daddy?" riley nodded. "yes, we are." tatum had grown up around his brothers and his parents that carried accents and his mom was always giving her ancient celtic stuff because 'she should know where's she's from' was all his mother preached to him. riley hadn't been back to ireland since his family moved here to valkyrie when he was thirteen. it's not like he didn't want to, because he did, he just never had the time to go between college and then having tatum. regan had gone back recently, but reed and riley hadn't. now that he was older, he would like to go and go back to dublin and check out the places he grew up around. but, he could just add that on to the list of things he wanted to do eventually.
tatum pushed her plate away from herself, signalling that she was done. however, he noticed that she still had milk in her cup and he pointed to it. "drink your milk." tatum huffed and took a gulp. it still wasn't empty but she hopped off the chair and said, "i'll be right back. i have to show kat something." and took off to her room. riley laughed. "bet you weren't expecting this," he told her. "and sorry about my brother... walking in earlier. he usually knocks." slight lie. there had never really been a reason for knocking. tatum came running back in with a few barbies in her arms. she tossed them up on the counter and climbed back up her chair. she swatted hair away from her face. "i just got these," she said and pulled the three barbies in front of her. she picked up the blonde one and showed kat it. "she's my favorite. she's pretty. just like you." she showed riley the barbie next making sure riley looked at the flashy outfit tatum must have put the doll in. she turned the barbie back to herself and smiled down at her as she smoothed the outfit down and ran her fingers through the barbie's hair. riley picked up tatum's plate and rinsed it off int he sink. he heard tatum ask kat, "do you wanna play barbies with me? i have a lot." riley poked in before kat would have to. "kat's probably gotta go soon, tate." tatum looked back at kat. "ok. but maybe next time you come over? will you play barbies with me? daddy doesn't know how to and always messes up." yes, riley had played barbies with tatum countless of time, but however he "played" never seemed to satisfy her from the outfit his barbie was wearing to what she was saying to tatum's barbie.
but, riley had no idea if kat was going to come back, or if she even wanted to. maybe she realized she wasn't as in to riley as she had been last night. which was fine. tatum slid back off the chair, grabbed the dolls and went to the living room to play with herself, leaving the two of them alone enough. "did you want me to call you a cab or anything?" they must have taken his car last night and he didn't know where she lived, so he didn't want her walking all around town to go back where she needed to go. he wondered if she just moved here, or if she was just visiting? she was very russian and it seemed like she had been living in russia for a long time. "and i was also wondering if maybe i could have your number? maybe we could get together again? sober, of course."

katerina was more than glad that this little tatum girl didn't seem to have much of a problem with her. lord only knew how difficult her job would be if that...precious little tike didn't like her. then she would have to prove herself to the kid just in order to get anywhere with riley and that just wouldn't do. hitting it off like this made her work so much easier. she really had to hand it to the kid. this was going to be much, much easier to do now with a...what four year old? on her side. age didn't matter. the point was that this kid was handing her the cover she was looking for and kat was going to jump on it. at least she was cute. she had a bit of an attitude which kat found more than amusing. she was beyond sure that this little tatum chick had her father by the short and curlies most, if not all of the time. having this little girl under her wing and on her side meant that she could have him in the same way. that kid was leverage if kat had ever seen it and she was going to make good use of it. clean of course but if she could get tatum in her back pocket the rest of this would all just fall into place. beautiful. and all of this awareness had hit her before tatum had even gone running off to find her barbies. this was where it got complicated. getting a kid to like her and playing dolls was a whole other matter. that was when the true colors really came out. this meant that things weren't going to be as easy as she had hoped. kat was still going to have to work on things. needless to say she had her work cut out for her regardless but it was worth it. kat knew deep down in her gut that this family was going to be the perfect cover. she had her claws in them and she wasn't about to let go any time soon.
she had to hand it to the little girl, she had lots and lots of spunk. she was pretty sure that she gave riley a run for his money on a daily basis. there was no debate that that little girl wore the pants in the family and that people around her just acclimated to that. she had to have gotten that from someone else, probably the mother, because she just couldn't see riley behaving like that. must be the infamous coco kat had heard all about last night. she sounded like a piece of work so it wouldn't have surprised kat if the spunk she was seeing from tatum was from that other half of her DNA. kat couldn't help but admire that spunk...at least for now while she wasn't on the opposite end of it all. "she's precious. i don't know how you do it all by yourself." she said with a smirk. tatum arrived with barbies and for a moment kat panicked. watching the kid play with barbies was one thing. playing with her was a whole other ball of wax and one that kat wasn't too good at playing with. riley saved her the indignity of tatum having a child call her out on her crap, something she was super happy about. the breakfast wasn't bad. she was pleasantly surprised about the fact that this man could cook but then again he seemed like the type to drop all typical male stereotypes the moment he learned he was supposed to be a father. he seemed like the type to have studied the food network and bought rachel ray magazines to learn obscure and ridiculous ways to successfully remove grass and other stains from children's clothing. in between freaking out about the fact that he was an unwilling soon-to-be father. he was a good one from what kat could tell. he put a whole lot more effort into his kid than kat's father had ever tried. then again kat had killed her father. riley had to be on the right track seeing as how tatum seemed to like her father much more than kat had ever liked her own.
"next time i promise." kat said with a smile as she inwardly worried. maybe she would have to watch some girly movies and see just how to do these things. maybe there were amateur barbie youtube videos or something. or maybe she would save herself the misery and just wing it and pray next time she came around. that third option was quickly becoming the only viable option. kat was relatively sure if she subjected herself to too much "research" she might just swallow a bullet. she watched tatum take off to the living room and couldn't help but smirk. she turned her attention back to riley and nodded. "i'd appreciate that for sure. thank you." she had been wondering if this cover thing was going to work out right but the moment riley spoke up again kat knew she had him hooked. "yeah. of course you can. i'd like to see you again. you have a pen and paper?" she asked, cocking her head to the side as she smiled at him. once he grabbed the paper and came around to her side, she turned to him, pointing her body at his and giving all those kind of body language signals that would have been involuntary had she not been intentionally doing so. kat scribbled her name and number on the paper and took his hand, sliding the paper into his hand and brushing her fingers over his as she closed his hand over the paper. "call me sooner rather than later." she said with a hint of that sensual husk in her voice. she had to give him a reason to want to call her right? that could be easy enough. she had those lofty feminine wiles after all did she not? even if under the soft, sweet exterior was a cold hearted bitch.
