PERSONALITY
This guy is definitely a major adrenaline junkie and everything around his life is based on this very fact. He likes to live fast and hard. When it comes to the way he acts towards women he could probably be considered a whore. He never can settle for too long and he doesn't really like having to save them from whatever troubles ail them. However, he is a bit of a hypocrit because if a guy ever treated his little sister this way they would be in for a beating.
This also shows how how lives hard. He is extremely loyal to those who are close to him. His little sister and the heist team are his best friends and he would lay down his life for them. Sorta. He does have his own code with them for his own protection because of how much he hates jail. But, he would take a bullet for them. He has a knack for picking fights with little to no reason for it. Which, some might say he has a short fuse on most things.
He would like you to think that he is a tough guy with no remorse or regret, but this guy has secrets. EJ doesn't really believe in actually murdering when he is okay with pretty much everything else. He holds his secrets deep inside and no one will ever get that deep. Probably because he doesn't let anyone new get close without a fight. He is weary and it takes a lot to gain his trust. But, he will take risks on gambling.

His mother was only 16 when she had Ethan and so really wasn't ready for children. When he was younger his father was abusive to Lila and the children, which made it so EJ never really wanted to be home. Hence why he wound up pushed into the life of crime.
Since his father's death twelve years ago his family has grown closer. Though he doesn't live at home anymore he does go their often to visit his sister and mother. They always do dinner on Thursday nights together - no matter what. He feels like he needs to protect them and needless to say no man has met the cut to date his mother or sister. He is always around them.
In his own life, he probably has at least one kid out there with a mother who didn't tell him. Though, he his thoughts on being a father are sketchy because he never had a good role model and would be terrified and run away from the commitment anyway.

HISTORY
Lila had met Nathan while she was out with a fake ID and pretending to be older than she was. She had been known to be the party type of girl and just happened to fall into a whirlwind lust (I won't call it love) in only a couple months. But, what fifteen year old really knows what love is? He sweet talked her out of her virginity and it didn't take long to make a few stupid mistakes and wind up pregnant. Ethan was born on April Fool's day - like some cryptic joke to a sixteen year old unmarried Lila.
The young parents didn't stay together and Lila dropped out of school to get a job as a waitress because her parents weren't about to spend all their money on the burden that her their daughter just pushed out. It was a hard battle and she still loved Nathan, but he was busy doing other things with other women. Sometime around three years later Nathan and Lila had decided to make another go of it. Lila was happy. She didn't have to work as much and she had a man to take care of her. Plus, it was her son's father! She ended up pregnant again and this time Nathan did the right thing and they were married. Shortly after the wedding (which everyone knew was a shotgun marriage) Ethan's little sister was born.
The stress of a crappy home, crappy job, and two kids to feed was extremely hard on Nathan. But, that really isn't a good excuse. However, when Ethan was six years old Nathan started beating his mother and spanking the kids on a regular basis. Usually, it was for stupid reasons and nothing that a child would understand. Ethan always made sure to play hide and seek with his sister to make sure she wasn't around to see what was really happening in their home. But, Lila stayed. She was afraid to be alone and she didn't want to lose the only sense of security she had. Even if it meant a beating every other week. Then every week.
Ethan loved school. It was an escape from home when he was younger. He always played after school with his friends and avoided going home at all costs. His dreams came true when he was twelve years old. EJ was off playing with his best friends when his mother drove up bawling with a crying sister also in the car. He didn't know what had happened, but he knew it must not have been good. But, when he found out his father was dead he thought it was the best thing in the world and smiled. This was something that always bothered Lila until Ethan was old enough to explain it to his mother. But, it also meant they were back to being poor. Back to struggling.
EJ knew that he had to be the new man of the household and this is when the stealing started. It was usually just food at first. Then it was money and he told his mother that he had a paper route or mowed someone's lawn. He never had the heart to tell her the truth. Especially, since she was so thankful for the extra cash. It was just one of those things that compounded. Ethan still went to school because his mother always regretted not graduating and insisted her children would. He was lucky enough to spend most of his day in the shop classes. He was a natural fixer.
At eighteen he graduated high school and opened his own shop from the money he had been accruing. And not in the legal way. But, he was proud of his shop. The business does legal business, but it is also his hide away for cars that he has stolen. When he was nineteen he was caught stealing a car and went to jail for a year. It disappointed his mother and sister and this was when he wised up. No, he didn't quit being a criminal - he just got smarter. He has spent his time honing his stealing and driving skills. Most of his money these days comes from winning races and turning over stolen cars. But, he drives for his buddies when they need him. The gang likes to hang out at his ever growing business. A place he likes to relax and crack a beer. He lives in a nice loft apartment above the shop and can usually be found there.
