- - - it'd been a long day already. thankfully by now ro was up to the more mature classes. er...well the older children. don't get her wrong, ro obviously liked children to be working with them all day but the younger kids had so much energy where ro lacked it. not all the coffee and energy drinks in the world could've prepared her for today. it was a long day, estelle was out of the studio because she was sick again and asked ro to take care of her classes for the day, it was only two, but on top of ro's four other classes it was a lot. thank god none of them conflicted with each other or else that definitely would've been the straw that broke ro's back. it was only now that she noticed how much weight she was placing on the hand that was against the banister at the front of the class as she watched over the students. she was practically holding herself up. why was she so tired? she did nothing the night before other than order take-out, and literally catch up on her television shows. other than that nothing else was going on, her brother leo called like he usually does ever couple days to make sure she's alive. as the girls continued on with their positioning, she let go of the banister to make her way around the room, checking their feet before stopping by the window calling out the counts as she went along.
by now the setting sun was shining it's rays through the windows signalling to her a confirmation that yes, the day was almost over. dorian had woke her up this morning by barking at a pigeon that was sitting on her fire escape. thanks dorian. she'd woken up this morning with enough energy for her to run three times her normal distance, but as the day went on she just became more and more drained out. all the classes, all the children, hardly any breaks; that didn't help. she loved these kids though, they were all precious. sure, some of them had a bit of a bad attitude or were a little reckless but that was the age, "five, six, seven, eight," she spoke aloud and smirked a bit as she watched all the kids move in unison with one another, the moves that she taught them. it was a nice feeling to have someone looking up to you. she had students that she saw around town all the time and when she did they always saw her and frantically waved with a smile. their parents were always kind and did the small conversation of 'how are you's and 'take care's before going off in their separate directions. it was funny really. if only they knew what she really did other than working at the studio. if only anyone knew. it'd be a little thrilling to see who's perspectives of her change but at the same time that could obviously never happen. ro would like to say that she wouldn't ever rob any of her student's houses, she would like to say that she hasn't but she'd be lying, and for that she did feel ashamed.
ro wasn't too fond of her career path, but until she had enough money to live well enough on her own without having to do so then she would have to keep going with it. hell, now was no time to slow down. ro had gotten caught. red handed not to mention, and the two guys knew her face and name now. it had taken everything in her not to freak out at the moment and that was only partially because the guy didn't call the cops on her. not to mention that both the guys were exceptionally attractive, especially the one that had caught her. will. god, there was something about him that had just riled her up. she wasn't sure whether it was those icy blue eyes, or just the fact that he just reeked of man from the feet up: the height, the handsome face, the piercing blue eyes, and even the voice. he sent the girlier side in her on fire, and even after the 'incident' she'd seen him around town a couple times. she even ran into him at the bar. she made sure to keep those run-ins short though. how do you even approach someone that caught you robbing their friends house? if anyone knew the answer she wished that they'd enlighten her on appropriate behavior for such events. if it wasn't the awkwardness that killed him, it was the eyes. plus non of this was very ro-y, but she did find herself fighting herself to keep at arms length, and their awkward meetings distant enough for her liking. because how would she ever be able to explain herself? he knew her background already, she was just shocked enough that he didn't think she was weird as all fuck.
ro stood there she couldn't help but smile to herself as the final counts of the choreography came around and the kids ended with their last step that she'd taught them, she could see their eyes looking up at her from through the mirror. nodding and clapping her hands together she smiled at the kids as she walked around the group, "good job guys, that's all for today," she told them as they hurried to go get their bags and change their shoes, "remember to let sam at the front desk know when your parents are here!" she added as some of the children ran out of the room excited for whatever was coming next in their day. smiling to herself as the last kid, charlie, a sweet little boy who always stayed after to wish her a good day before walking out nicely to his parents. he smiled at her as he waved, before she turned to take off her dance shoes and place them into the small duffle that she'd brought with her, before dropping her moccasins on the floor to slip on momentarily. finally being able to breath for a moment, ro pulled the water bottle from her bag she took a mouthful and let the cool water sit there for a moment before swallowing it down, and placing it back in her bag. by the time she'd gotten all her things together and was ready to close up shop she was slagging along to finish up. closing up the last window in the back corner of the room, ro's had sensed the presence of someone else but wasn't expecting someone to actually be there.
she was sure she probably jumped about a good couple inches off the ground, but it was quite possible the feeling that came after from seeing who exactly was standing in the doorway. she was surprised but good god, it was past pleasant surprise. thank you, god. smirking to herself a bit she took slow steps over to the table where her bag was and leaned back against it for a moment, her hands against the edges as she kept her eyes on him, "so what, you're stalking me now?" she chuckled a bit, as she grabbed her duffle, heading for the light switches next to the doorway where he was standing, "you know usually after you find someone robbing a house, you don't usually smile when you see them as much as you do to me," her voice was a little lower but only because she was only lightly flirting with him. could she help herself? no. would you be able to? probably not.
as the lights in the studio flicked off by a flick of her fingers, ro moved between him and the doorway before closing the door behind them. and continuing down the hallway to the lobby, to make sure that everything was set up for tomorrow. picking up a clipboard with the next day's schedule on it, she shifted her eyes between the paper and him as she asked him "so tell me, how'd you even find me here?" she spoke, finding that the schedule tomorrow was good and placing it back on the desk. as ro's two-toned eyes peered at his own, she raised her eyebrows interested to hear his answer. suddenly, she was so tired anymore. ______________________________

---WILLIAM TYLER WASN'T THAT GUY WHO FELL IN LOVE WITH THAT GIRL. it probably sounded horrible, but women were a game to him. it was the competition that he loved. but he didn't mistreat women, or lead them on. he was very clear about what he wanted out of their relationship, and while he kept up his flings, he treated them right. he went after women who wanted the same thing he did, fun, and no commitment. it was easier to be straight forward, and he never tried to beat around the bush. will loved women, and he had respect for those who wanted families and careers, more power to them, but he also loved the ones who wanted a good time. he was just a fan of the female species. heck, william tyler was the guy to walk a little old lady's groceries to her car. it was all thanks to his dear little mother though. that woman would have beat him blue if she ever learned that he was disrespecting a woman. growing up with several girls forced him to love women, and it wasn't like pulling teeth, it was natural. easy. the thing was, women loved will in return. he showed them a good time, would be their friend. they just had to catch on that it would never be anything more than friendly dates and maybe casual sex on occasion. he wasn't a pig, he liked to get to know women, to make them feel important, like they were all that mattered in that moment. he was a people pleaser, what could he say. that was why he had been the one setting up jack with all the dates. not to toot his own horn, but he was much smoother with the ladies than jackson sharpe. jack was too up tight, poor guy. although it had gotten rather dull since the last girl he set jack up with, or in other words, paid to go out with him, they actually ended up knowing each other and were dating now. except without the label. actually, will didn't think they'd even kissed yet, so scratch that, but jack wasn't much into the ladies. apparently he liked jude. well whatever, will had plenty of other wingmen. maybe he should hit the town with ej, because that blonde that had sloppily wandered out of his apartment the other morning was a real catch. together they could divide and conquer.
except there wass a teensy little problem with that.
ro shohk.
that fiery little brunette had been running through his head nonstop since their first meeting. this wasn't the first time will had been caught up with a girl, but it was the first time in a while that the infatuation had lasted so long. that, and the circumstances under which they met were far from normal. he'd caught her red-handed breaking into rocky's house a couple weeks ago. she'd thought she was so sly, and quite frankly, had she not been surprised by his arrival on the scene, she probably would have gotten away easy. but he had caught her, nontheless, and her spunk had crawled under his skin and wouldn't loosen its grip. she had tried to provocatively talk her way out of him calling the police. the thing was, will hadn't planned on calling the police on her either way. for starters, he could awkwardly end up turning her into his half brother whom his sister cassidy had already met up with and mentioned was a part of the flatfoot brigade here in town. will wasn't ready to meet the spawn of his invalid father quite yet. no, hee didn't bear any hate for the kid, it was just an odd concept. he hated his dad passionately. if the man ever came back to vaklyrie, will wouldn't hesitate to beat the shit out of him. but could he really blame some kid for his dad's adultery? no, logically, he couldn't. he still needed time to wrap his head around the idea though. so there was that, and the fact that will didn't think he had any right to call the cops on a thief. she wasn't hurting anybody, and quite frankly, they were in the same line of work, only difference was will had bigger jobs and more partners. from one criminal to another, it didn't seem right. it was like some unspoken criminal code, as far as will was concerned. that and she was cute as she tried to seduce him. no, it didn't work, considering it had seemed completely forced and awkward, but the entire facade was somewhat endearing. he liked the girl he liked her fire. his mother could tell he'd been thinking about a girl too. that woman, he swore, could read his mind. she knew everything without even a hint, it was her uncanny ability as a mother. will hadn't the faintest idea how she did it. most of his sisters could tell too, aside from mayci, but she was so enveloped in her own problems that it didn't surprise him much. they were telling him he was interested in a girl whom he'd technically met once, a girl he didn't really know what emotions to feel about.
he'd seen ro around town a few times, meeting up with her in bars with awkward hello's and stupid small talk. but every time he saw her he had this stupid grin on his face like she was his long lost friend. it was always unexpected, and he had begun to wonder how many times he'd seen her at the grocery store or in front of him in line at starbucks before and not even noticed her. he knew she wasn't a native, at least. will knew all the native families, even if he hadn't met them personally, but he knew the names, and hers wasn't familiar in the slightest. he had even begun unconsciously looking for her wherever he went and found himself slightly disappointed when he didn't. it was completely irrational, he hardly knew the girl. it was moronic, and it made him feel like an awkward sixteen year old boy again, just taller and brawnier. but his craving to see her again had him hazy minded, and he ended up doing what any normal person would do... figuring out where she worked. it wasn't that hard, it turned out she was working at astaire studios, and the woman who owned it was one of his mum's friends. how convenient. he chuckled to himself when he found out. his mother was still skeptic. "william, when do i get to meet this girl?" she asked when she came home from work for lunch that day. "mom, seriously, there's no girl," he shrugged, twisting his thumbs together as he sat at the dinner table. "you already admitted there was, so don't go pulling that bullshit with me," she snapped, picking up an orange and throwing it in his direction. he caught it of course, "calm down, sheesh," he laughed, setting the orange down on the table. his mother sure got feisty when it came to will and women. she didn't trust his taste, quite frankly, after what lauren had done to him. he was sure if another lauren situation happen, his mother may end up burying the poor girl in the backyard. not to mention he wasn't looking for anything serious, despite the circumstances. his mother wasn't the only one who hated lauren. will hated the girl too, and after her little screw up, literally, he was over the idea of a wife, two kids, a white picket fence, and a golden retriever. none of it interested him. but then again, maybe that was why he was interested in ro. it was a different situation now, and neither of them were performing particularly legal activities. maybe this was exactly what he needed.
a couple hours later he was ready to go, showered and spiffy. his mother was at work now, but his sister was home. "where ya goin' liam?" she asked chirpily. mayci was the youngin' of the family, freshly turned nineteen and about to finish up her first year at the university. she was also his feistiest sister, and the only person on the planet who called him liam. "out," he responded curtly with a half smile. "c'mon, tell me," she said, following him around the house with some book in her hand that she had obviously paused to interrogate him. he just ignored her though, looking for his keys. where did he put those damned things? "are you going to see the boys?" he continued to ignore her. "y'know, they're pretty attractive..." now she was just trying to irritate him. "like rocky? man is he one fine piece of ass. or ej, i love ej's eyes. chance is closer to me in age though... hm..." she trailed of mischeiviously, and will scowled, "no," he growled, thinking primarily of ej's hot blonde whom he hadn't even bothered to walk out the door. the idea of him and mayci, good lord, it made him sick to his stomache. "oh liam, i'm just kidding, you're going to see a girl aren't you?" will stopped in the middle of the hallway. well, little mayci was more perceptive than he gave her credit for. damn. he didn't respond again, looking around the living room for his car keys, shoving his hand between the cushions. "are you looking for these?" she grinned cockily as he looked up, the keys hanging from her index finger. he reached to grab them but she jumped back gracefully, "what's her name?" she persistd, her hands behind her back. will was six foot four, if he had wanted to, he could get those keys back in a breeze. he stood there, debating it. mayci could see that though, and she was ready to make a run for it if he even moved in her direction. quick little thing. "ro," he muttered in defeat, rolling his eyes. mayci gave him the keys, grinning, "well, be careful! don't do anything you wouldn't want me to do!" she laughed, tossing the keys at him. he hurried out of the house before he could hear anymore snarky remarks. god, he loved mayci, and he laughed as he walked out to his car. then he heard her voice again, calling out the door, "don't tell her you live with your mom, it's a turn off!" and then he stopped laughing, throwing his middle finger into the air with a quick glance backwards. she blew a quick kiss and then scurried back into the house.
it didn't take long to get to astaire studios, and will was thinking about how much he needed to move out the entire way there. he was so attached to his family though, and he loved his little argument with mayci. she was the one most like himself. and his mom? the idea made him sad, but he knew it was necessary. he just was a procrastinator. lord knew he could afford it, easy. but he could worry about that another time, because he'd just arrived at the studio. a few kids were leaving, being picked up by their parents. will parked on the opposite side of the street, getting out of his truck and sautering over to the front of the studio. he opened the door and immediately a confused look swept over his face. for some reason the person at the desk seemed to know exactly who he was looking for, "ro?" the person with the nametag sam said. will nodded. the person pointed back behind them into another room. will nodded and smiled before walking into the studio, standing in the doorway. it took a second for ro to notice him, and he raised a brow and grinned as soon as she began to speak, "stalking you? i've lived here my whole life. if anything, you're the one stalking me,"
[/i] he smirked, referring to all the previous times they had run into each other. "and would you rather i send you death threats? i think i'm being quite civil considering the circumstances," he grinned, chuckling lightly. so she didn't like that he smiled so much? "fine, note to self, stay serious," he wiped the grin off his face, all but scowling at her now, forcing his voice to be monotone. he pretended to be uninterested, superior, "simple really. i know everybody in this town. my mom knows your boss," he shrugged like it was no big deal, although it wasn't quite as easy as he made it sound, to figure it out without his mom catching on to every detail. he straightened his shirt, rolling his neck slightly, "but anyway, i came to inform you that you owe me one, for not turning your pretty little ass into the police," he allowed the cold exterior to melt away again, grinning at her with all the charm he can muster, "so what do ya say? you, me? a night on the town?[/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify] - - - - - - - (STATUS) finished. Post by ro ahna shohk on May 16, 2012 17:04:51 GMT -6
- - - it wasn't that ro wasn't one to go out on 'dates' or be in a 'relationship', but to be honest, her life just didn't call for it. when you were a thief by night and a dance teacher by night, it didn't really leave much time for men even though part of ro desperately wanted one. she hadn't had a boyfriend since she was in college at ucla. she couldn't help but smile as she remembered it, and in all actuality, they weren't even officially a couple, they just kind of...were. but that was ro. she was never one for titles because she was never one for any of that. she wasn't necessarily a hit it and quit it kind of girl either but instead more of a 'this is a strictly one night thing' kind of girl and even those were rare. she was just one of those people who were better off on their own. aside from her line of work by night, she just came with too much baggage, and in her mind no one should ever want to put up with that shit nor should they have to. she'd been attracted to some men before that showed promise but she swatted that away before anything could get any further than a couple nights out to dinner, or the bar and a romp in the sack. in ro's mind, she survived all this time on her own, so what's the rest of her life? she could do this, just her and dorian. her brother, leo, had begged to differ. since she was in college he'd been trying to set her up with people. one of his friends from college named dev was fun for a while, but then after a couple months of on and off seeing one another he'd asked her to move in with him, and that's where she took off running. she'd come back to valkyrie, where she'd been since she was a bit younger. though they'd went to a private school not too far away, she'd been in valkyrie since she was younger but thanks to the events in her family she flew under the radar until she left for ucla for only two years before dropping out and coming back here to work in astaire. it was hard, who would ever not only believe all the shit that's happened with her family and then be willing to put up with it? in ro's mind no one. in her mind, ro hadn't even come across someone who she even thought would be worth the work of even trying to start to see.
that was until she met someone, not to mention in the most awkward way possible. getting caught robbing someone's house was one fear of hers but them actually seeing her face was the worth thing in her mind. so how did her identity being revealed end up being one of the moments that she couldn't forget if she tried. it was funny really. she hadn't even gotten arrested, which no doubt would've given her away had it actually happened. she was sure her head sprouted about ten gray hairs at just the thought of being caught, it would give her away completely. the string of burglaries in the area hadn't gone unnoticed, and by catching her she would probably be blamed for all of them which was right but a nightmare in her eyes. that'd be the end of her, but still this wasn't the main thought in her mind. instead, the image of those same beautiful icy blues that stared into her own eyes that entire night were etched into her memory and not leaving any time soon. he was the one that caught her in her getaway attempts from rocky's house and that was weeks ago. the whole night continued to play over in her dreams beginning off as a nightmare but then turning sweet when will finally arrived into it. the way his arms had wrapped around her when they were fighting one another seemed to spark a bit of arousal in the lower part of her stomach but that wasn't even it. he was so easy going about it, and there was something about his persona that kept him in her mind. she didn't really know how to feel, but she knew that something about this was different than the way she looked at the little amount of other men that had tried to etch their way into her life.
there'd been some moments around town where her and will had finally run into one another, which brought a thought to her mind the thought of how many times she may have run into him before and just never noticed him. ro wanted to laugh at the thought that she wouldn't notice him. he was gorgeous. while ro hadn't really been dating too much, but she'd never really seen a guy like will, she thought they were only really in movies. for someone so tall, so...built, and so good looking it seemed he was straight out of a dream...or a women's romance novel. weird really, she definitely would've noticed him or so she'd like to think. it was odd for her to be thinking about a guy this much, it'd been so long since she'd literally been attracted to someone like this, let alone someone she barely knew, but she couldn't help but think about him. this was so not ro. she didn't get crushes, but now she looked like an idiot. at least in her eyes. she didn't fawn over guys. ro wasn't the type of girl to walk in places and look to see if he'd been there. hey, if she never noticed him before, maybe if she actually looked she'd see him. but then what? she'd stumble over her words? no. that's not ro.
aside from her walls, ro always wondered where she'd see herself in the future. no matter how many times she would say that she is content with living alone, it doesn't really sit that well with her. especially not with her picture-perfect brother in new york, a surgeon at nyu medical and married with two kids checking up on her only to end up speaking with her about how great things are. awesome bro. as she looked around the room at the children changing their shoes and such to leave she smiled. this was fine for her for now, and hey, if she was to meet someone then it is what it is. she smiled at the thought of he knew someone she'd met. could this be her getting a break? in the midst of her thoughts as she cleaned up around the dance room, she smiled to herself as she went about closing windows, cleaning off the mirror, and such but it was the image that she turned around to that caught her by surprise.
sure, he scared the shit out of her but he was just as soon forgiven when her eyes cast over him. one of his eyebrows was raised in her direction as it seemed he was amused at her reaction, "you scared me," she spoke, her hand falling over her chest, her hearbeat pounding against her hand, not to much from just being scared rather than because of his presence in the doorway. her lips pulled up at the corners as he responded to her statement about him being a stalker with a comment that made her nod, the small smile on her lips staying put. it's true they had seen each other a lot lately around town, but that was purely chance. as he continued on with the charm that she'd like to give the impression wasn't working, she couldn't help but chuckle, "circumstances huh?" she smirked at him giving him a jokingly 'oh really' type of face, before chuckling off the look. "i didn't mean you needed to stop smiling you know, i just meant it to ask if there's a specific reason you're always smiling around me," she was pushing it and she knew it but she never really was the kind of girl to beat around the bush.
she watched him and nodded as he explained that his mother new estelle, figures. estelle's been in this town for ever, and dabbles in everything. ro should have known. her eyes caught on to his fingers as he straightened the nice dark button up shirt he was wearing before her ears caught on to him speaking once more. she watched as he proclaimed that she owed him with a sort of compliment, his grin shooting in her direction as he proposed taking her out and just like that she had to fight the crimson wave from arising on her cheeks, "well since i owe you and all," she spoke, an exaggerated sense of exhaustion plaguing her voice with a small smirk as she headed for the door leaving him to follow her so she could lock up, "i suppose my pretty little ass can take you out tonight," smiling she locked the door behind him. before turning to him, her keys fiddling in her hand. "one condition though," she spoke taking a step up closer to him, her eyes looking up to his face. it was only now that she realized how much taller than her he was, "since you're actually dressed nicely, i suppose that my attire isn't really gonna work now is it, handsome?" she spoke, her hand softly reaching out to the shirt, feeling the material but smiling slightly at the feel of his stomach beneath it, "i've gotta go home and change, can't have you looking better than me now can we?" she joked taking a step back, the same grin on her face as she took a step towards the parking lot before stopping, "you're driving, let's go."

---WHY WAS RO SO INTERESTING TO HIM? he really couldn't have told you. women interested him as a whole. he found things to love about all the ones he pursued. but he was never in love with them. then again, he wasn't in love with ro, either, but he was more drawn to her than he was to the pretty blonde working the counter at bad seeds. he wasn't complaining, not exactly. will wasn't necessarily the type who went around avoiding commitment at all costs, he simply wasn't interested. infatuation was never an infection that plagued him, something he hadn't dealt with in years. and yet here he was, standing in ro's dance studio, basically pressuring her into going on a date with him. granted, with women he liked a challenge. he would often go out of his way to pursue them, to make them want him. this was different, however. he wasn't here to have sex with ro, that was the last thing on his mind. he was genuinely here to learn more about her, to figure her out. she baffled him, and was like a disease in his brain he couldn't quite shake. maybe it was temporary, but it was already longer lasting than what he was accustomed to. the fiery little brunette had him in her grip though, even if she wasn't aware, but he wanted to understand her, to get to know her. she was intriguing. he chuckled when she exclaimed he had scared her, "well sweetheart, it's not like i snuck in. perfectly legal," he gave her a knowing smile, his hands going palms up as he looked at her, raising his eyebrows. he was never going to let the fact that they met because she broke into one of his best friend's house go. it was pretty out of the ordinary, he figured he had a right to hold it over her head. of course it wasn't out of a vindictive nature, he wasn't taunting her maliciously. it was all fun and games, merely him teasing.
ro was so small, it was a silly thought, but she was. especially when compared with him. he felt a foot taller than her, give or take. it still surprised him, how close she had gotten to escaping that night. he was six foot four, that wasn't exactly an un-menacing height and weight you could evade easily. there was a reason he was the muscle on the heist team, because he literally was a muscle on legs. he worked out all the time to keep up the body, and he liked that they all relied on him to keep the hostages at bay. it was empowering, easy, and dangerous. call him an adrenaline junkie, but he loved his side of the job. it was a necessity as well, which gave him an air of importance. he didn't care if it came off as cocky or conceited, because it was true. denying that his end of the bargain wasn't necessary to complete their jobs effectively would be ludacris. they needed him. now he wasn't going to say he was the most important part of the team, because that wasn't true either. everybody played an equally important part. without rocky and jack, well the entire thing would be a mess and they'd easily be caught. not to mention they were the money getters. elise took care of the security, and chance kept the hostages calm and collected. and of course, ej was always there just in the nick of time to pick them up and speed away without pursuit from the police. they were all necessary, and without one or the other, the heist team would have been a total failure. it was their sense of teamwork and the way they could fit together like the pieces of a puzzle that made them so effective. it was why they had never been caught, and why they were never even suspects. will wasn't much of a fan of jack's elaborate plans that hammered out every detail, and every scenario, but he had to give the guy credit. those detailed fuckers were the reason why they were able to execute every robbery with stealth and success. it was why they were all rolling in money. but who was going to suspect a huge gambler who still lived with his mum to be a professional heister? no, he just looked like the luckiest bastard in the world. in a way, he was. not a lot of people could fall into such a smooth system of crime. it'd all been a joke at first, but it turned into something beautiful. and yes, he meant beautiful.
from a distance his hard headed personality didn't really look like the team work type. yes, it was true, william tyler didn't usually play well with others. but he'd known the majority of the heisters his entire life, basically. they weren't strangers, or people he hated. he loved every single person on the team, and while his charismatic god complex sometimes got the best of him, causing an occasional head-butt with jack or rocky, it only ever happened on the job. as soon as they were out of such a stressful environment, it was easy to laugh about and nobody was really mad. except maybe jack, he might lose some beauty sleep over how badly things could have gone, but will had gotten used to the looks of annoyance. they were best friends, the ultimate bromance plus one, elise. and she was basically one of the boy's. will didn't want to be the leader of the team. rocky was good at that. he was the type of guy people liked listening to, the type of guy who could take charge. being the head honcho was a little too much responsibility for will's liking. he liked being able to go to the meeting and make stupid faces at chance from across the room instead of listening to what was going on. he was a kid at heart. not childish, but childlike. he liked simplicity, for things to fall into place. he was very jocular, and enjoyed just having a good time. for him, each heist was more an adventure than a stressful situation. not to mention, even if they had been caught, he'd been to the big house before, and he was huge. who was going to try to make his life hell? will could already see himself in maximum security, buddying up with the guards and befriending some scrawny little guy who ended up there for a stupid reason. of course, if he had the choice, he was always going to choose not being caught, and living up his life. the worst part about being caught would be disappointing his family. it would break his mother's heart, and he didn't want to have to say goodbye to them while his sisters sniffled and his mother sobbed uncontrollably. the mere thought of it made him shudder. but come what may, he'd find some way to get through it. and if he was posted bail, well, he'd be out for good. so he had no quarrels with the future. he was the type of guy who wanted to live for the here and now. let the past be in the past and the future stick to the future. carpe diem.
will's current present was ro shohk. he couldn't help but laugh out loud when she persisted as to why he smiled around her. not beating around the bush, eh? ro really was quite the little spitfire. and it was just another trait that kept him completely interested in her and who she was and why he'd never seen her before. "i smile at people i know, darling, common courtesy," he chuckled nonchalantly. well, it was true. will was a smiler. he grinned at all his old high school friends, his old teammates, his coworkers, beautiful women. smiling was a universal, unspoken "hello." women always read so deeply into everything men did, "you know, when a girl overanalyzes what a man does, it usually mean she likes him," oh yes, he was completely aware that he sounded as though he were in third grade, "how many sleepless nights have you spent trying to figure out why i was smiling at you?" he looked at her with a superior smile, turning her little game against her. it was all fun though, light hearted. he couldn't remember the last time he'd been so intrigued. well that was a lie, he could definitely remember, he'd just rather not remember. lauren was a dirty name these days. when he met women named lauren, he couldn't help but feel an undercurrent of resentment towards them, even if he'd just met them. if ro's name had actually been lauren, he would have been turned off from her right away. that was how deeply the traitorous blonde had cut him, and looking at somebody like will tyler, it would be assumed that he couldn't penetrated or hurt by anything in the world. but a pretty blonde could do the trick. a pretty blonde could break a man. he didn't like to admit how much she'd really hurt him, he just liked to pretend she didn't exist, like nothing had ever happened. lauren who? and his family indulged in his make pretend, never mentioned the girl's name. though in private they were quick to badmouth her. will's mother hated her simply for the fact that she thought lauren had broken will's desire to ever settle down permanently. she wanted some grandchildren, damn it, and her two oldest kids seemed totally against being in relationships of any sort. of course, shay was in a relationship with her work life. she didn't avoid it, she was just busy, and intimidating since she was so abrasive and intelligent. will could have been married off to some nice homely girl by now though, easily. or so his mother seemed to think.
when ro accepted his invitation for them to go out tonight, his lips curled up, flashing his pearly whites. "fantastic," he laughed again, rolling his eyes at her teasing tone. he frowned slightly when she went on about a condition, "i'm listening," he muttered reluctantly, not quite sure what she was going to say, and not quite sure he was going to like it. but once he heard the proposal, he sighed with relief, feeling her touch through his shirt, one side of his mouth twisting into a crooked smile, "sweetheart, we'll do whatever you'd like, but if you think you're going to surpass my good looks, i'm afraid you're mistaken," he made an expression as if to say challenge accepted? looking positively self-involved and entitled. he was only half kidding. they walked out towards the truck, and he laughed, "mmm, i like my women decisive," and he grinned coyly at her before shrugging, "actually that sounded awful, you can ignore that," no need to make the girl feel like an antelope being hunted by a lion, because it probably already looks like that considering the size difference. he gestured towards his truck, walking around to the passenger side and opening the door for her. well played, will, always the gentleman. once she was inside, he sauntered around the front and climbed in to the drivers' seat. he made his way to ro's house with her help, offering the directions as they drove. he made small talk on the way, asking her how her day was, if she liked her job, etc. once they arrived at her house, he pulled into the driveway and turned off the truck, "i'll wait here, don't take too long, alright?" he joked as she exited the car. once she was inside, he turned up the radio, leaning back and closing his eyes. this was the best feeling, getting what he'd sought after. as weird as it sounded, he was glad he'd caught the spunky little thing trying to make off with some of rocky's goods. he liked her. she was different from his usual type, not that he had a type, but most of them weren't dancers by day and thieves by night. he wasn't sure how much time had passed before he faintly heard the sound of a door closing. he looked up to see ro coming out of her house. he fumbled slightly, getting out of the truck and running around to the other side to open the door, "you clean up nice," he said with a smile, "you look beautiful." it was cliché, but what the hell, it was true. he trotted around to his seat and got back in, "so, where are we off to?"

- - - ro didn't blush. it wasn't an action her body could do, or at least she didn't know it could. it was funny really, it's not like she didn't really have emotion, she did. it's just she spent so much time alone that she didn't really talk to other people that would end up bringing that emotion out. god, she hadn't even been on a date in about a year and even that was a bust. the guy was good looking and all but he was a total bore with absolutely nothing to bring to the table. so were most of the others. but there was something that was different about will. the one time ever that ro was looking forward to possibly bumping into him in the grocery store, and whatnot. sure they'd seen each other the bar a couplet time when she'd went out with a friend of hers, one of the other dance teachers at the school. jhene, her friend was seemingly a bit taken with will as well. it was hard not to like him, he was just charismatic. something about him was just easy to be taken with. it surprised her that he was here, in the studio. to see her. it wasn't something that she was expecting but now that he was finally standing there in her doorway with that cheeky, crooked grin on his lips as he looked at her she wasn't obviously going to tell him to leave. she was shocked he was even coming back continuously, because normally when you catch a girl robbing your best friend's house you don't really pursue or flirt with her. at the mention of how they met she couldn't help but smirk a little, "you're never gonna let me live that down are you?" she cocked her head at him a bit, "let's not forget who won the fight though," ro winked at him slightly as she hiked her bag up on her shoulder.
the height different between ro and will was rather comical; the pixie and the giant. compared to will, ro looked like a child. just the idea alone amused her because it was true. at the same time it made what she did all the easier. she couldn't credit all her thieving success to dance, it was the gymnastics. she'd started ridiculously young and had always been rather flexible. it made climbing in and out of places all the easier. all she needed was to learn to be stealthy and that came with time. sure the job had been brought on by desperation, which was the cause for a lot of what people did today, but ro had only two choices at the time: live on the streets, or get money the only way she knew she could. hell, she didn't have anyone so she obviously wasn't gonna go rob banks. she chose the cat woman route instead. it was more satisfying anyways. gaining the studio was just some luck that came along the way from desiana. she'd know the woman her whole life, and she was practically ro's second mother. ro always had a feeling that she knew what ro was up to or at least knew that she was doing something illegal. it wasn't hard to narrow it down; ro had too much pride and respect to be a prostitute, she always was independent so working for a gang was out of the question.
thieving people and their homes just kind of fell on her. there was that bitch marie gold in school, and she was always bragging about her family, asking everyone what they had and all but laughing in their face in comparison to her things. her father and her used to always practice cracking locks. door locks were a breeze, cars weren't bad, but it was more complicated locks that they kept themselves occupied with. it was a hobby really. he remembered her father had started her training with a rubix cube, and told her to pretend it would explode if she didn't finish it in under a minute and a half. an impressionable little girl like ro had of course thought it would, and thrust her mind into the solution to the cube. she saved herself in the last second just before she began to sweat. her father chuckled before telling her to do it again and faster. after that feat had been destroyed, he moved her on to the various kinds of door locks, but ro wanted safes. she wanted to learn to crack them but her father wouldn't let her. it took her late night going into his office and practicing on her own to learn. ro had drive, it what she needed for a life on her own, but it's foundations were rooted in her since childhood. even when her father caught on to her late night practicing's, he made her show him everything she'd learned telling her it was all wrong and that she'd forgotten about cleaning her steps behind her. someone who cracked in would know she was there, and that wasn't the point. it was to be silent so they'd never know, and in that way you could be long gone before they found out.
even as she looked back today, ro had a feeling her father knew what road she was headed on. if only she could've held on to him a little longer. just one more conversation, about everything. just five or ten minutes. but right now she was fine, it seemed as if she was a little more carefree when will was around her. she was comfortable, it was easy.
ro didn't pay much attention to life in valkyrie other than her own really, which may explain why she's never really noticed will before. he was so stark and just screamed 'man' that she was surprised that even with her nights out at the bar with samantha or noelle that she didn't ever see him. he was a local, so it baffled her a little more, especially since noelle was from valkyrie. she must've been holding out. ro smirked at his response, of course he would down play it. it's not like he showed up here at her studio for no reason, or that at the bar they stayed with each other all night out of some 'common courtesy', she wasn't blind, "and you're sticking with that?" she asked cocking an eyebrow at him a bit. she listened as he spoke of her overanalyzing her words, and chuckled a little bit, looking him dead in the eyes. he was something, she didn't know how he managed to be that brawney and tall and still make himself seem just as adorable as a little boy. god it made her feel like a pedophile until she looked at him and realized that he wasn't everything but a child. thank god, "and what if she does?" she spoke with a bit of a sly tone to her voice as she walked past him, eyes glancing back over her shoulder. as she made her way back to the front desk listening to him ask about something very junior high school girl-ish, she laughed again, before turning back to him while picking up some mail from the front desk and flipping through it, "i don't sleep remember?" she spoke with a small cheeky smirk, "i have other night time activities," there was no way she couldn't keep coming back to that. he certainly was ever gonna let her live that down so why not poke some fun at it huh? ro was starting to think that park of the phone of it all was that will was so confident with himself, but at the same time he was a clown. he had this 'i'm gonna say cocky things but i hope you know i'm kidding but not' kind of thing going on. it was right up ro's ally needless to say.
the moment came up eventually, she knew it was coming because she doubted that he came down to the studio, with his nice crisp shirt tucked in just to indulge in some witty banter with her. she wasn't an idiot. she couldn't deny that he looked good though, it went hand in hand with the charm. of course she was gonna say yes, how could she say no? her love life wasn't exactly booming with excitement, will was probably the best thing she had going for her right now. she laughed at his response to her agreement to the date, rolling his eyes with sarcasm. she waved him off, watching his face change as she spoke of an addition to her answer. she listened as she stepped closer to him as he sighed at the easiness of her condition, her fingers brushing against his shirt, just enough to feel his toned abdomen beneath it. she smirked at him, "you'd be surprised," she spoke as she walked towards the door, waiting for him to follow behind her so she could lock the door. she chuckled a bit at his first response before he stopped himself to which she raised her eyebrows.
ro could definitely say that she was pleasantly surprised when she went to open her door herself but found that he opened it for her. she looked at him for a moment as he held the door open, with the smallest hint of a smile on her face, "thank you," she spoke soundly. ro was never really one for small talk, she hated it. it was always just people waiting for the precise moment to talk themselves up but something about this time was different. entertaining, between cracking some jokes, and such it was enjoyable to talk even simple stuff with will. when they'd finally arrived in the driveway of her home, she immediately started thinking of what she would wear out with him tonight. he didn't say where they were going, but she presumed they were going to dinner or something. hopping out of the car, ro made her way into her home, dorian greeting her at the door, "hey buddy," she spoke closing the door behind her, and bending down to rub his head and behind his ears a bit, before moving through her home to her room, setting the shower on warm to get in and get out. ro's feet took her quickly through her room, pulling a creme colored tank dress and her black blazer from her closet and setting it out on the bed. dorian jumped up on her bed to watch ro go on her wild goose chase through her room. flipping her hair up into a tight bun on her head strategically so her hair would fall in loose waves over her shoulders when she was done.
hurrying in to the shower, ro was working in record time. getting out of the shower she dried off and such, before getting dressed, and letting her hair down and then moving on to her make-up. lining her eyes and smoothing out her skin, she finished up with everything quickly, before packing a small clutch with a few things and grabbing her heels. will was tall enough as it is, she didn't wanna be a midget by comparison to him all night. checking herself in the mirror once more, ro made for the door, locking it behind her soundly and moving back out to the truck where he was waiting for her. he noticed her getting out, and much to her surprise again, got out and went around the car to open her door for her. ro's lips curled up as he complimented her once, "just something i had, lying around," and stopped her again as he called her beautiful. she stopped and looked up at him. she can't remember the last time that she was called beautiful, it hadn't been for a long time. peering up at the those same blue eyes that had stopped and caught her that night, "thank you," her voice held a massive amount of sincerity in it, before her eyes shifted to the car and she got in and situated waiting for him to come around to the drivers seat.
"i'm starving, can we eat?" she asked not being shy about it at all as she looked over to him in the drivers seat with a smile, "you grew up here, you know the area, take me somewhere good" she smiled with a wink, "the next place is all me," her eyes peered up to his again, and she flashed a wink. tonight would be a good night.
