[/b]TELL ME A LITTLE OF WHAT YOUR FAMILY IS LIKE?
"my parents were always show business-driven i suppose. they pushed me into acting at a young age. not that i didn't like it - i love it. my older sister was pushed into the music industry, and my younger brother has been on broadway since he was ten. my parents aren't those crazy stage parents. no. my mother is actually a costume designer on movie sets and my father is a writer. so i guess i shouldn't say they pushed us into these things. we're a show business kind of family. all really good with what we do. we might all be busy at some points, be we all get along and brag about awards we won in the joking way. my dad and my mother have both won oscars for their perspective career field. my father for best original screen play and my mother for best costume design. my sister's been nominated for a grammy, but won a few vmas in music. my little brother? gets nominated for a tony every year but never wins one. however he did do a guest spot on the tv show house and won an emmy for an actor in a guest-starring role. me? well, i got a daytime emmy under my belt, and a few mtv movie awards, teen choice awards... we're really good about celebrating all of our accomplishments, we always go to each other's award shows in which we were nominated in. we're a family of freaks really."
WHO ARE YOUR PARENTS?
"my father is edward lockhart. he's fifty now and he's a writer. a screenplay writer. my mother, julia lockhart, is forty nine and is a costume designer."
DO YOU HAVE ANY SIBLINGS?
"a brother and a sister. my sister, chanel, is 24 and is a singer. you can call her a pop star i suppose, without all the added glitz. she's more of a singer songwriter. my brother, mattew, is 19 and he works on broadway."
ANY OTHER RELATIVES CLOSE TO YOU?
"no not really. no one really stands out in my mind."
TELL ME THE STORY OF YOUR PAST?
"my parents, edward and julia, met on the set of a movie. my father wrote the screen play and my mother was designing the costumes for the film. they've told us kids that they met by accident. it had been such a big set, it could be impossible to see everyone that worked on it. but my dad was walking by the costumes trailer when julia ford came out with a male's jacket, and asked edward lockhart to try it on for sizing since the actor who had to wear it, wasn't around. that was how they met and no more than six months later, they got engaged. in between movie projects they had, they got married. a few years later, my sister, chanel, was born. they weren't really of the brad pitt/angelina jolie star status in the public's eye, but among the industry, they were well respected. two years after my sister was born, that's when i was born. i guess you can say i always grew up in the business. i was so used to a movie set, it was like my second home. whether it was in the costume trailer or in the writer's room, my sister and i were the cute kids of the lockharts that were allowed on set and never caused problems.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]
my sister had a voice and i had some skills of my own. chanel started taking voice lessons as young as eight. she really did have a beautiful voice. my parents asked me if i wanted to start acting. when i was five i landed roles in commericals. toy commercials, milk commericals. anything really directed towards my age group. i can't really remember those days of my life, i was young. i do remember my parents asking me continuously if this was what i wanted to do. it was there way of never pushing me into this business. they knew how hard it was for actors. everytime they asked me, i always said yes, so they continued to take me to auditions. i was ten when i booked my first major gig. i was a son on the soap opera days of our lives. yes, a lot of people don't remember that i first started off in soaps. but it really is the best learning experience for an actor since it's very fast-paced. while i was doing that, my sister had some guest spots on csi as a child singer. since she had the voice to back the character up, she was easily able to win over audiences. by younger brother, matt, was a combination of both my sister and i. he had a voice and he had acting skills. he did a lot of theater in los angeles before booking a role as billy elliot in the musical billy elliot. so he had to move to new york, where he lived with my aunt and uncle in the city.
i stayed right where i was in los angeles and continued to work on days of our lives. the show really became part of my family. i was there until i was fifteen when my character had to go to a detention center because i killed someone. go figure, huh? well, for my performance in the last year i was with the show i got nominated for outstanding younger actor in a drama series and i won. i was really surprised when i did win. i just didn't expect it. i thought it might have been hard to get jobs when i freshly got out of my first real gig. but i ended up finding myself in a guest-starring role in law and order: special victim's unit play another troubled teen. it was funny. i played troubled bad kids so well when really, i was the nicest person around. guess that's why people like playing the bad guy. after svu i had recurring guest roles on teen dramas like gossip girl and 90210. i always was on the shows long enough to get my name out there and quickly become a fan favorite and then i would leave with an open-ended arc where i had opportunities to come back. i never left with bad blood with other actors, producers, and creators. i don't want to brag but i was really easy to get along and work with. if i had a rotton personality and attitude, i wouldn't be asked back as much as i am. even though i was sticking with tv, i really wanted to break into the movies. i really did want to become a movie star. with some extremely good luck during my audition, i landed a part in the 2007's alpha dog. i played zack mazursky, the teen kid that got kidnapped and eventually killed i was sixteen when it was filmed and it sort of put me on the map. it was an indie film that got limited theatrical release but the ones that needed to see it did. alpha dog was released in january into theaters. by february i was audtioning for a new movie. i got the role of alex o'connell in the mummy franchise. well, it was the third movie where the son was older. it was the first time i was in a major blockbuster, with a multi-million dollar set. it was, pretty much awesome, i will admit. i mean, i love movies, i loved mmy experience on alpha dog but everday when i came to set it was all these stunts, explosions. it was exactly what i wanted. i convinced everyone to let me do as much as my own stunts as possible. i really got in shape for the fim, built some muscle up, went through some intense trainings. i'd like to say it helped me get my next role in summit entertainment's never back down where i played the new kid, jake tyler. when i wasn't filming the third mummy i was in florida filming never back down, both movies were coming out the next year, 2008.
my manager and agent and the rest of my "camp" as the media said knew how to play my career. not in a negative way, in a positive way to advance my career. they thought with never back down as my first real 'movie' then people would definitely want to see me as alex in the mummy. they were right because 2008 was definitely my year to come out and shine. i was eighteen and i quickly obtained a title of 'hearthrob.' not that i really ever minded. i, haha, i loved the spotlight in the non-douchey way. i was the one that just wanted to meet every fan, sign every autograph, talk to every interviewer. my good work ethics helped in the public eye now as there was never really even bad press about me, i was described as a 'sweet heart' and 'easy to talk to' i really enjoyed that. i wasn't one of those actors that hated the spotlight and always acted like they were above hollywood. like they were just here to 'act.' i don't really agree with that. being in the public's eye just comes with the job, you know? like fires for firefighters. if you ask me, those people should just get over themselves. but anyways, back to me. haha.
with all my new found success, i was trying to find more roles. jst kind of anything that would put my name more out there. of course i just wasn't finding any old roles. i was looking for good roles, entertaining ones. something my fans wanted to see me in.but also you want to grow as and actor. kind of play your hand in all kinds of genres. i booked two roles for the year of 2009. two horror movies. friday the thirteenth and the step father. i managed to get the lead male role in borth of them. play clay miller, the guy looking for his sister in friday and the son, michael, suspecting his mom's new boyfriend isn't who he says he is. friday did better than the stepfather box office wise, but enough people went to not make the movies a bomb in the box office. after i did the good old horror movie try i went to the complete opposite of the spectrum for 2010. i only did one movie. mainly because the better part of 2010 was filming for the movies that came out in 2011. however 2010 was rather an interesting year for me, and i don't mean movie wise. i was in a movie called remember me playing the lead role, tyler. though prior to the release, I was doing a bunch of pr stuff to promote it. i was appearing on talk shows, going to events, and somehow i got roped into being a celebrity judge for a dance competition show. i said i would do it, and it was one of my best decisions. that's where i met a dancer in the competition, carly sutton. she was just absolutely gorgeous, a great dancer. during the episode i filmed sort of met her backstage and i got to talking with her, and found out some things, at the end of the night, we exchanged numbers. even though i was still promoting remember me around the united states and some in the uk, when it came to the new york premiere, i phoned carly up and asked if she wanted to go to the premeire with me. she said sure, so we attended it together. when the interviewers on the red carpet asked if we were dating, i said we were just friends. because then, we just were. however, i really did like her. i have been linked to so many actresses, models, and co-stars. sometimes they were true, sometimes they weren't. i was usually just so busy that i never had time to date. besides, i was one of hollywood's bachelors. i wouldn't say i'm one of those actors that try to hide away from the personal aspect of my life. if i'm dating someone, i wouldn't deny it. i'm always proud of who i'm with. i'm just saying, it's been only really a few. with carly though, it was different. i really liked her in the dating romantic way. however, we because really close... in the best friends way.
i started getting to work in what i liked best. action movies. a lot of them filming in new york, where carly was with her daughter a lot of the time. i managed to beat out other actors as the role as the alien number four in the upcoming blockbuster i am number four. it was another movie that was going to help my career. along with the title role in that movie, i was also working on the newest super hero flick captain america: the first avenger as the side kick, bucky, not as big as a role, but i still was a part of it. lastly, i also landed a role in monte carlo playing owen, a football player who follows his love interest (one of the three female leads) to europe. so between the united states and europe, i was filming a few movies. sometimes, i'd send out tickets for carly and lily to visit me on set in europe, and they'd sometimes hang around in new york with me. where ever it was, the paparazzi would get photographs of us around the city, behind the scenes on set, or various events i took carly to. in the tabloids and gossip sites, we became the 'are they or aren't they' couple. tobe honest i didn't want to continually tell people that we weren't dating when we were seen everywhere together. we even shared an apartment in new york because when it came down to it, we were really close friends. but i always wanted more and always chickened out when we were hanging out. the press continued to hound us with no avail. one night when we were at the new york apartment, i sort of asked her to marry me. i fumbled my words, probably made myself sound like a weird scientology freak, but i pretty much said everyone thinks we're dating, we're always together, we're best friends, lily likes me, everything just made sense if we just got married. well she said no, mainly because she thought i was joking. and i was pretty much crushed. i didn't know if these feelings were mutual. obviously, they weren't. so i just played it off like i was joking too. it was in january and a few days later, valkyrie, california had a massive earthquake and carly rushed back there. i sort of gathered my pride in new york, started auditioning for some new movies and eventually booked a role in and upcoming blockbuster i'm not allowed to talk about, but it's filming kind of near valkyrie, and since carly was living there, i decided to go to valkyrie. and look, here i am."
