--- this is detective butch o'neil, the twenty-seven year old homicide detective for valkyrie's finest. o'neil was born and raised in valkyrie with five brothers and sisters, and as such has pretty strong ties to the community though over the years they've slowly dwindled down to nothing. he went to school at valkyrie public, graduated from valkyrie university, and has basically made all kinds of roots in valkyrie down to having found a wife here as well. but happiness wasn't in the cards for o'neil. he married young, at twenty-two, and his wife sarah was everything to him. she was his high school sweetheart, she was his one and only, she was the only person who really got him. three years ago she was blown away in a drive-by shooting involving a bunch of gang banging druggies and since her death butch has never quite been the same.

--- his wife's death did a number on o'neil and it effected his work. after her death he was asked to take a few weeks leave and it was then that he'd lost himself in liquor. beer was never strong enough, o'neil would drown himself in the strongest malt liquor he could find. by the time he came back to work o'neil was a different person. he was cold at work. he got rougher with suspects and began to really push the boundaries of his line of work. his lack of sleep and inability to control his drinking made him extremely hard to get along with. his temper flared and coworkers refused to partner up with him. all in all he's becoming impossible to interact with but he's still a good cop even if he doesn't understand boundaries anymore. he brings in the most suspects of anyone else on the force and he's trusted to handle the worst of the gruesome homicides. he completely lacks tact and isn't the best for the job when it comes to bringing family members bad news but he's the best at what he does when he's firing on all cylinders.

--- o'neil's recent obsession has come in the form of maggie giovanni, the newest giovanni wife and rumored drug connoisseur for her new family. he's become obsessed with maggie due to her unique resemblance to his deceased wife. he's zeroed his focus in on her to the point where he's overstepped his bound with the narcotics team, arresting maggie on bogus charges, and hanging around the m lounge just waiting for some reason to talk to her or just give her hell. his obsession with her isn't just attraction. he wants to make her miserable because he sees his wife in maggie and instead of seeing maggie giovanni, the drug dealer, he sees his deceased wife with another man and it has twisted him up inside to the point that o'neil's willing to do anything to drive her mad and dissuade her from continuing to do what she does for a living.

--- o'neil is a pivotal player in plots with any and all giovannis and corinthos. basically he's got his mind dead set on screwing with maggie and he'll do anything to twist a situation in order to drag her in or make those around her miserable. he'll react to plots including luca and maggie as well as plotting with other law enforcement officials and people around valkyrie. his play by is joe manganiello who stars in true blood. i promise you that if you take him you will have nearly unlimited plots at your disposal. feel free to plot him affecting other crime babies as well but his main focus will be on maggie.
