------------------------------------------
------ Elizabeth Hughes had never exactly led the average life. None of the people in her world ever did. Probably the best example of this was that she was currently in a room with a talented computer hacker, a women who seduces men to kill them, and a man who was simply a muscle man and murderer. And these people were her family. Donny was not by blood, but by relation. A hacker who was one of her closest friends, not that she really appreciated it yet. Widow was her niece, her sworn enemy. A sexy killer and someone who would take a bullet for her... and another before she admitted to it. Orion was her older brother. A murderer who put his life on the line rather than hurt her, when he barely knew her. And then there was Isabel who wasn't even in the room. She was the glue. Happy and perfect. And Liz saw none of it. She couldn't see these people as family. They were too off the reservation. But in that moment she was sitting there, in the apartment shared by her and Orion, on the couch watching as Widow seemed to be a bit cornered by Donny who was asking her the real reasons she was still here. You see, Donny had his loyalties to Liz, they knew that. Orion hated Darren too so it all made sense. Widow was here to just make Liz's life hell for fun and yet, something seeded so off. Don't ask how the argument over why she was here began. It just did. Tensions had been running high with the rebel!sirens lately. Orion was just watching really, sitting next to her. They had been sort of ganging up on Widow for awhile now. Liz rolled her eyes and stood up, looking over at Widow. "You've had your fun, and you're still here! We just want to know your real reason for being here, you've made it clear we can't trust you."
------ Widow narrowed her eyes at Liz, "Oh yeah because I can trust you, you killed my father don't forget.." Widow said spitefully, but Liz just laughed slightly, frustrated, "Exactly Wid, What are you doing here?" Widow shook her head, "Because I wanted to be okay?!" She exclaimed, "I hated it there, I hate it here too but not as much. I just wanted to be away from them and.... and I didn't want to be alone." Liz's eyes widened slightly actually. She wasn't expecting that. She watched as Widow seemed to be sincere for the first moment since being here. Liz knew she was supposed to feel something for Widow, she was her niece, they did grow up together, but it was either not there or buried very deep down because Liz couldn't stand the vain bitch in front of her. From her spotless eye make up to her perfectly manicured toes, perhaps it just surprised her Widow had actual emotions. Donny on the other hand, actually had a bit of a friend in Widow. He stood straight from leaning against the table and looked at Wid, "So why didn't you say that when you got here, why did you immediate just begin to blackmail Liz's life? Widow laughed, "Oh right because you guys are SOO open to that idea. Would you have believed me? Liz?" Liz just looked at her. What reason would she have had to believe her. Liz didn't say a word. "Exactly, If I wanted to stay, I had to have a reason and that was the most believable. You guys never would have let me stay otherwise. You're like a club no one else can get into or understand or possibly be worthy of." Liz rolled her eyes, "Come on Wid, you know damn well why we don't let many into this group, you would be the same." Wid shook her head and smiled, "Yes, making you the world's biggest hypocrite." "What's that supposed to mean?" Liz asked defensively. "You know exactly what that means, begins with an 'R' " And that's when Liz shut up. Widow had her there.
------ Liz had let Riley into their little world. She hadn't tried to. But somehow she ended up caring about the oldest turner and he had cared about her and he got into the car and she hadn't cared and then he got out of the fucking car and everything went to shit. It had been an accident. She hadn't wanted him involved but as far as Donny and Orion knew, Riley was not there. Wid only found out by accident. Liz had somehow been able to plead with her to not say anything. Liz knew that it Orion knew he would think everything was solved, they could just tell their dear old dad, blame the shot that ended darren on riley, kill him, bring their father his head and the man hunt would be off. But that wasn't going to happen under Liz's watch. Donny looked confused, "What's that supposed to mean?" Liz looked at Wid, begging her in her own mind, not to say a word. Wid shook her head, "I just think Liz has a bit too much of an attachment to that mancandy teacher." Orion nodded, his first real part of the conversation. "I agree with Widow on this." Liz shrugged, "First off, you're both nuts, I couldn't care less." Which was false, it was more she COULD care less, "Besides, he's got nothing to do with us. I haven't even spoken to him in weeks, so you can both chill." Orion nodded, "Good, we don't anyone poking their nose around." He stood up and walked towards Widow, "And we all know Wid's right, we would never have accepted her presence." Orion was trying to be the voice of reason. "Fact of the matter is, we're all we got. It's not like we can trust anyone outside of this room, cept Iz, of course."
------ Donny nodded, "Speaking of which, where is my baby sister, she should have been back by now don't you think?" He asked, Iz had gone to pick up some food. Wid smirked, "Well, you know Iz, probably stopped to play in the puddles or something." They all gave small smiles at the comment because it was true. None of them could have even imagined the blow that was waiting for them outside of the door. Orion nodded, "I'll go look for her, I'm hungry." Orion moved to the door and opened it grabbing his coat but stopped in his tracks as his foot hit a wrapped gift, roughly the size of a shoe box. He reached down and picked it up. On the tag it read [[ TO LIZ;; DEBT REPAID ]]. He looked at the message confused and brought it back into the apartment. Liz walked over to him and took the box, "What the hell?" Liz looked at them before she began to unwrap it. All of them knew it couldn't be good. Donny and Wid moved in closer for a better look. Liz opened the box and just stared at it. It was a polaroid picture. And she could not register much else at all. Did this mean Iz was... god she couldn't even think it. Seeing the look on her face Orion took the box from her and pulled out the photograph inside. It was Isabel Davis. Bleeding out of the side of her head, body limp on the ground, dead. They found them. They found her. Widow walked behind Orion and looked at the picture before immediately looking up at Donny. Orion met her gaze to Donny too, Liz just stared blankly at the wall before dropping the box in her arms. Donny looked at them all, "What?" He asked at their stunned faces. Wid took the photo from Orion's hand and held it out for Donny, "I'm sorry." She said softly. Donny took the picture from Wids hand and as soon as his eyes got wind of what was in the picture, the pain was immediately seen. His eyes watered, he bit his lip and took a deep breath before ripping the photo up.
------ Unless you've lost someone you loved, there was no way to begin to understand how they felt. Donny held the torn up photo in his hand, anger being all her felt. He walked over to Liz and grabbed her hand, giving them to her. He folded her figures over the photo pieces and kept his voice calm before he spoke to her softly, "It was a gift for you after all.... you did this Liz." He said before walking out of the apartment, fast, the door slamming as he left. Liz didn't even blink as he left. She squeezed the photo in her hand, making a fist with it. Orion took a step towards her, "Liz-" "Don't" Liz spoke, stopping his words. "He's right." She added, her eyes glazing over, she nodded taking a short breath, "We all know that." And they did. They all knew. She took a deep breath before walking over to the couch and grabbing the jacket she had from Kenny. She hugged it across her chest before folding it up and placing it on the table. She ran her hands up her arms and nodded again, "I can't keep hurting people." She said plainly. Liz looked up and stared at the door before walking towards it. "Where are you going Liz?" Orion asked stepping towards her as she headed out, "I just need to fly away for now." And with that she was gone.
------ A half hour later, Orion came back to the apartment but before entering he leaned against the wall, exhausted. He had tried to go catch Liz or Donny, but he couldn't find them. He let himself slide down to the floor and looked up as the door of the apartment opened. Wid bit her lip before sitting down beside him in the hallway. "Any luck?" Orion just shook his head. "No". They sat there for a moment when they looked up to see Riley Turner walking towards them. When the tall irish man asked them what was wrong, Orion scoffed and rolled his eyes. Wid shook her head, and told him plainly, knowing he knew about their histories. "Iz was killed." She said plainly. When Riley then asked about Liz's whereabouts, Orion stood up and looked him in the eye, "We don't know, probably wouldn't tell you if I did." he said plainly before walking inside. Wid stood up and looked at Riley, "He couldn't find her. She's fine, she said she just needed to 'fly away for now.' Just go home." She replied, she didn't need to deal with these bleeding hearts. What she didn't know was that once upon a time Liz had told Riley about a near by cliff in the desert, just a bit out of town. It was a place Kenny went to feel like he could fly. And at that moment, Liz was there, standing on its edge looking down. Her mind constantly reeling through the faces of all of those she had hurt. All of those, she had killed or gotten killed, and flying away sounded pretty good to her right about then.

----ALL RILEY WANTED WAS A NORMAL LIFE. ever since he moved back to valkyrie, it seemed like one curve ball was thrown at him after another. los angeles had it's moments, but valkyrie was a constant string of these once taboo moments. the twenty two year old in him said he should just leave, save himself while he could. however, this was riley turner we were talking about here. valkyrie's most stand-up guy. the nice turner. a guy with morals. the former golden boy. the one with the good heart. what did all that mean? that he was a predictable guy people could rely on because most of the people here knew him since he moved here. riley did no wrong. or, at least that's what everyone thought. the thought of leaving would go against everything riley supposedly stood for. there was too much he couldn't leave behind.
people were soon going to find out about the fact he got a seventeen year old pregnant. strike number one. things between him and coco were civil. it's not like they loved each other. if you didn't remember, the baby was a result in one drunken regretful night of self-pity, (on riley's part.) he was torn up on his strike number two. the fact that he was an accomplice to murder sort of put a dinker on his golden boy status. not that anyone would ever find out about strike number two. he'd end up in prison and even finnegan couldn't compare to their crimes. finn equaled petty, small-time, car thief. riley equaled accomplice to murder. liz may have pulled the trigger but riley pretty much led her to do it. it had been about six months since it happened. he hated looking at himself in the mirror everyday because he kept seeing darren about him strangling him to death. then stillness. there was blood. a lot. for a moment, that was all riley could see for minutes. riley didn't know how some people could do this. killing people. clearly, riley turner would be a terrible criminal.
having a baby, however, was sort of helping with riley focus most of his energy in the arrival of the baby. they still didn't know the gender. coco didn't want to know and riley had long given up on arguing with her. his only rules were she couldn't smoke and no drinking. but, riley had really had been helping her whenever she needed it. he really was pretty much at her beck and call. he didn't care either. keeping her happy had been his number one priority for the past few months. they were getting along and riley was happy about that. happy that they didn't hate each other. trust him, it definitely wasn't going to turn romantic. they were like, friends. and wasn't that the second best thing for a child to be born into? so, your parents weren't together, but they were people that got along. though a lot of people in valkyrie didn't know riley was the father, some people close to him did now. reed and regan had been the first to know. then came his parents. it was probably the first time seamus was disappointed in riley. in his exact words, "i'd expect this from reed or regan. but you? she's underaged, too." riley had to go on and explain that yeah, he was in the wrong, but he was making it right. guess that would have been a bad time to slip in another girl he was sorta kinda barely was involved with killed her brother and riley was right there for it. or, in a literal sense, right beneath it.
liz had been the main source for why he had been so angry. it wasn't fair since he didn't blame her or he didn't hate her. it - she - them, it was so confusing. everything was confusing. she always threw his center of gravity out of whack. the last time they talked was about riley getting coco pregnant. before that? a conversation about keeping quiet. then of course the one before that was the actual murder. their encounters seemed to be rare, crazy, and intense. for someone that riley believed was becoming a thorn in his side, he barely saw her. and yet, he saw her everyday if that was even possible. she was living in hitten, he believed. with some family members or whatever that were apart of the sirens. he avoided the floor as much as possible. however, it was kind of hard when there was no elevators in the old apartment building so being on on of the top floors wasn't very fun.
riley had just gotten back from v-mart and go. he had needed to get some groceries. regan was still living with him, and sometimes regan was such a little kid in not wanting to go to the grocery store with him, leaving riley to get the food, hoping he was getting the right brand of cereal for his little brother. according to regan, it was practice for when he had two two mouths to feed. that, being the baby. riley was glad his brothers could pass this baby issue off so lightly. he carried the two grocery bags under each arm and started the tiring ascend of the stairs. once he hit the floor liz lived on, he paused a moment and glanced down the hallway, half-expecting to see her in the hallway. instead, he saw widow and orion, who he had previously met the last time he talked to liz. he could tell orion didn't like him. probably had to do with the fact that riley knew too much. well, orion should trust him, if he didn't have to know everything he did, he would trade it. then there was widow, who he really didn't have a problem with. she didn't send him bad vibes. or at least, riley didn't think she did. when he saw the two down there, things didn't look quite right and well, curiosity took the best of him. he walked down the hallway and stopped by their door where orion was sitting next to. "hey guys," he said lamely. "something wrong?"
he felt weird and embarrassed when orion laughed at him. widow looked at him and said, "iz was killed." well, that definitely wasn't what he was expecting. he knew who iz was. she went to the academy. she was a pretty girl. always seemed happy. she always said hi to him in the halls at school, or passing by each other among the apartment building they both lived in. though he didn't really 'know' her, he felt sadness enter him. so young, taken too soon. it wasn't like she died either, widow plainly said she was killed, therefore, murdered. "oh, i'm... really sorry. i can't imagine...." they were all really close. riley had a hard time thinking of what he would do if one of his brothers died. he had always been convinced, he'd find regan in a bathroom with a syringe shoved up his arm, overdosing on the twenty kinds of drugs he was on. reed, pissing one too many people off, partying so much, he did something stupid. "is... liz around?" he asked next. he felt like he was walking on eggshells. orion stood up, and he was about the same size in height as riley was. "We don't know, probably wouldn't tell you if I did." oo, ouch. guess this brother of liz's really didn't like him. the fact that she wasn't here made riley believe that she took off or something. that's what he would have done. "uh, sorry i asked," riley said before orion disappeared in the apartment. widow remained there though. "He couldn't find her. She's fine, she said she just needed to 'fly away for now.' Just go home." and then widow, too, went into the apartment and shut the door, leaving riley in the hallway by himself.
except riley knew exactly what 'fly away for now' meant. and despite what her family members thought, it was something they needed to worry about. riley knew where liz was. he thought about knocking on the door again, telling them that he knew where she was, but he felt the thorn edge it's way deeper into his side and he knew he had to do it. riley turned back the way he came and out the apartment building. putting the groceries back into the car he started it and took off down the street. liz had told him about where her one brother, kenny, went when he needed to clear his head. it was on a cliff right outside of town. it's one thing to go out there to clear your head, but it was another when your mind wasn't in the head of someone thinking clearly. he was pushing fifteen over the speed limit when he hit the backroads, which probably wasn't good, but riley had to get there. it was about a twenty minute drive, and the headlights bounced over gravel as riley turned at the turnoff of the cliff. he stopped. seeing liz's silhouette near the edge. he cut the engine and got out. "liz," he called, as he was still at least fort feet from her. he walked closer. "how's the flying coming?" he asked her. "i think maybe you should step away from the edge a bit. do your flying where you uh, can't plummet to your death."

------------------------------------------
------ It seemed almost as if every other day in the lives of these kids, there was some event that made it so that things would never be the same for them. Perhaps, when those events are so frequent? maybe it should be changed to "nothing's ever the same." And just leave it as such. These kids have no stability, and they really never did. It is interesting though. I think many people forget that these "rebel" sirens hanging around Valkyrie are all just kids. The oldest of them is only twenty years old. Most twenty year olds are still living off their parents, many of them with their parents, working some part time job, inexperienced in the cruelties of the world because most twenty year olds are still under that protective umbrella their parents hold out for them. Even Riley who is older, not much older but he is seems far older than twenty-two. He's still a kid. Sorry but it's true. And this is spreading. Maybe not to the Siren extreme but it's like the whole world is just older. Average age of marriage is going up but the age for losing your virginity is going down. The rate of minorities and women in colleges is getting higher, but the value of that degree is going down. Accessibility to drugs has sky rocketed. Street crime, sky rocketed. Assault, gang violence, schools closing, people being kicked out of their homes, HMOs refusing healthcare... you know, this may not be the life of those teenagers who grow up in the suburbs or in small towns but you grow up in a city like Detroit or the bad ends of Chicago or Milwaukee or Brooklyn... this is your life on an everyday basis. Everyday. It was never just the Sirens. It was never just the mafias. It was the whole country. It was the urban society being screwed over by the rich suburbanites and the conservative small towns(sorry, I am angry with Scott Walker and the rest of the state right now and angst is blaming them). Liz and Widow and Orion and Donny... they were all just products of urban living, at least urban living in a more run down, poor area. Their family had money, but they lived in warehouses and the area was broke, hence the high crime rate. We all know those go hand in hand. The Less affluent the area, the larger the crime rate. And it would be a long time before anyone did anything that could actually help.
------ And none of this helped Elizabeth Hughes in her current situation. After Liz left the Siren apartment, she knew where she was going but she didn't really know what she was doing. She had been in a moment like this before and luckily, this time, Riley wasn't there, refusing to get out of the car. Liz grabbed Orion's motorcycle and drove the bike, speeding away from the Hitten apartments, a place that had simply been the back drop to many moments in her life now. It was almost like home. Not home as in the warehouse in Detroit or the abandoned office building in Chicago but home as in, somewhere she felt that she needed to come back to, maybe. She didn't know if that made any sense. But it was now definitely a prominent spot in her life. It was where her and Orion began their lives as siblings. She remembered that moment well. When she had seen him in the parking lot she had been feeling... well, a lot like how she felt now. Just tired and ready for it all to stop. Her guilt through the roof, terrified out of her mind and as soon as she saw him, she knew, it was time for him to kill her, complete the mission their father sent him on. Liz hadn't even fought it. She accepted it, but he never pulled that trigger. Orion, the brainless soldier, the brute, the robot, all things he had been called in his silent obedience through out the years, he threw his orders aside, risked his life, and helped her. And Liz couldn't help thinking he was next. Or Donny. Or... even Widow. Strange as it was, Liz didn't want Widow to get hurt all because of her. Whether Liz could realize it in that moment, but Widow and Orion and Donny, they all cared about her too. None of them are the best with emotions but they were a family. She just couldn't see that right now. All she saw was the face of Iz's limp body, dead in an alleyway. And all she heard was Donny's words, his truthful words.
------ Liz kept going, straight through to the edge of town to a small secluded area, hidden off the road, it was a cliff towards the east, towards Arizona. Kenny always liked Arizona. Liz always liked the idea of Arizona, but she knew she would never go. She skidded to a sudden stop and swung her leg off the bike. She hadn't worn a helmet. Her safety wasn't exactly her main concern. She walked towards the edge of the cliff and took a deep breath, closing her eyes, the fresh air filling her lungs. It felt nice, calm. This was Kenny's little place. He came here to think, when he needed to 'fly away for a bit'. He would always sit on the edge and wiggle his feet and imagine what it would be like to be a bird that could just fly off into the horizon, away from everything else. But while Liz stood there at the edge, looking out at that horizon and the small darkness that rising from the east from the sun beginning to set in the west, the half moon already visible, she wasn't imagining flying. She was imagining falling. Liz had confessed to the FBI but they couldn't do anything. Not only did it sound like self defense but no body, no crime. And now, her 'family' had killed Isabel Davies. You know, Isabel was probably the sweetest girl of all time. A bit repressed emotionally but who grew up with the Sirens wasn't? But she was a genuinely good person. Liz couldn't say that about Widow or Orion... or even Donny surprisingly. It's not that he had ever done anything so bad but he had some darkness brewing in him.
------ They had taken the one truly good person among them and it was her fault. There was no denying that They were retaliating Liz's actions against Darren. That's all. She might as well have pulled the trigger on her. And on Kenny. And Darren? She still couldn't seem to stomach that guilt. Death followed her, it needed to stop. Not to mention all the shit she had caused for... Liz's train of thought was broken as the sound of a car was heard. She didn't move from her position. She didn't even turn around. So Orion had found her, big deal. "liz," Liz looked up but not back as she heard a familiar voice not belonging to her brother but another innocent whose life she may have ruined. Now the dive down was looking even better. "how's the flying coming?" Had Liz been in a different mood, she probably would have giggled at the way that was put. Kudos on the morbid humor moment, Riles. But she wasn't. She was here, she was like this. She pressed on the edge with the toes on her left foot, letting some dirt crumble off the edge almost boredly before she lifted her head and glanced over her shoulder, "How did you know I was here?" She asked the man, she couldn't imagine Orion or Widow being corporative with him. "i think maybe you should step away from the edge a bit. do your flying where you uh, can't plummet to your death." Liz's body tensed a bit when he walked a bit closer, and it was something that could be seen. She shook her head, still facing outwards and away from him, tears building up her eyes and her voice wavering slightly. "What are you doing?!" She asked, sounding a bit taken aback as he had stepped closer. "Go Home Riley, you don't have to stop me every fucking time... it's not your responsibility, just go home."

----ONE THING RILEY REALLY NEVER COMPREHENDED was the fact that he was going to be a father. he was soon going to have a little baby he was going to have to take care of, protect, and help grow. though both of his brothers said that he was going to be the greatest father ever, riley was absolutely terrified. he believed it was the fact that people close to him held him to such a high standard. riley was 'responsible', 'caring,' 'mature.' all these words were common when describing him, and yet riley never stayed true to any of these. people expected him to be one way and SURPRISE! riley wasn't always like that. he wasn't valkyrie's golden boy. he wasn't. all these things riley was supposed to be... what if he couldn't be it anymore? riley never used to have so much self-doubt. he was scared though. scared to be a father. he just felt that too many things could go wrong. he wasn't ready for this. he barely had his life in order, how the hell could he take care of another life like this? he was the biggest walking hypocrite and let me tell you, that feeling sucked. there was just soo much going on with him, riley didn't even know where to start. he held up a very composed facade, but he was falling apart at the seams. he never went through something like this. it was riley's first break down. so many things continuously swam through his head. the baby, coco, his brothers, school, jobs, secrets, and liz. yup, liz continued to make her way into his mind all the time.
even now. he was going to liz. why did riley always drop every for her? for knowing so little about her, he knew a lot. that makes no sense, but it did for him. they both shared a deadly secret, they had been through so much, he knew what kenny had meant to her, he knew where she would be when not even her family did. and yet... he didn't know her favorite food, her favorite color, what she did on the weekends, and all those minuscule things that still made a person's personality. every time he tried to explain liz to him, he ended up more confused than when he started. he'd never forget when liz showed up outside his door. she was injured. trying to hold herself together as blood was on her face and her lip was split. injured. other injuries under her clothes he couldn't see at first. there she was, on his doorstep. she might have been looking for zack, but she trusted riley enough for him to convince her to stay. she broke down in the shower and riley was there, he helped her. he stayed with her the entire night as she slept on the couch. riley just... riley cared about liz. he cared about her a lot. he didn't want bad things happen to her.
he knew she was a big girl and that she was fine protecting herself. the thing was riley just cared to much to let her go. he'd always have a sweet spot for her. he could wish and try not to, but every time he'd see her, the feeling would just come back. riley knew he was risking a lot coming out to the cliff to himself. clearly he knew that orion did not like him one bit. he could see liz's family hating his guts even more that riley had known exactly where she was. to them, this was none of his business, none of his concern. but to him, it was. no one really knew what was going on in his head. he cared about liz's well-being just as much as they all did. so he wasn't wanted? that didn't mean he was going to stop caring. no one could make riley stop. not unless you killed him. the thing was, he could see liz doing something stupid. if reed or regan were killed, riley would feel responsible. he'd feel like shit. he wouldn't be thinking straight. izzy might not have been liz's sister, but she was close enough to be considered family. when loved ones are killed, your emotions are put out of whack. you don't feel like yourself.
when riley had gotten out of the car, he had full intentions of getting liz back to valkyrie safely. there would be no jumping as long as he was around that was for sure. he didn't care if he was the last person liz wanted to see. here he was. "How did you know I was here?" she asked him. riley still stood closer to his car than he did her. "you told me about this place. that kenny used to come out here." he pushed a few more steps closer. he was looking more at how far she was from the ledge than her face. "What are you doing?!" he tore his eyes of the ground and looked at her. "what am i doing? what the hell are you doing?" he wanted to run up to her, pull her away from the ledge, shake her hoping it would knock some sense into her, throw her into the car and drive back home. but he knew he couldn't be fast and irrational here. this was something he would have to deal with carefully and slowly. she yelled at him that he should just go home. he scoffed, cold wind smacking against his cheek. "i'm not going home. and now that i am here you better believe i'm not leaving without you." he stepped a little more closer. "it get's better, liz. you got to trust me on that." riley outstretched his hand, still several feet away from liz. "you really think kenny and izzy would want you to go out like this?"

------ Elizabeth Hughes was a mess. She had been a mess for a long time. One of her friends around Valkyrie had once told her that the reason they liked her so much was because she was tough and could take care of herself, but standing on the edge of that cliff, she was not sure how correct they could be. She was scared of everything. Yes, she had a stubborn strength to her but the truth was that was her wall. The inside was crumbling apart. It wasn't like this was her first suicide attempt, at least not really. Her first was the night she realized Darren was Kenny's killer. That night had been such a catalyst for everything. She did not know what to do. She never knew what to do. All she knew was that her choices were always the wrong ones and ended up hurting people she cared about. Even Riley. She had always liked to pretend she didn't give a damn about the guy but when she had seen Darren in the process that would have surely killed him, she hadn't even thought straight when she pulled the trigger. Not that pulling the trigger was all about Riley... It was about... it was about Riley, It was about Kenny, but mostly it was about turning her into a victim. It was about making her scared of her own family, her own life and her own emotions. It was about making her terrified of everything and everyone. It was about a wall she couldn't get down and then murdering the only person who kept her company on the other side. It was about stealing everything from her, and trying to take Riley on top of it.
------ And even that was a mistake because not only had she killed her tormentor and brother, it resulted in Isabel's death. She had stolen the one person Donny truly cared about with all his heart and she knew. Oh god she knew what it was like. To grow up in a family that while you can be chummy with them, they didn't give one damn about you and to only have that one, that one person who was there for you no matter what. And then have them taken away. It was a feeling that unless you've experienced it first hand, you will never understand it. And unless you are personally responsible, you will never understand the guilt circulating around Liz's whole soul right now. Some might say, in a way, Liz saved Riley's life that night but that wasn't how she saw it. Had she been more sane, she would have gotten him out of that car and then he would never have had his life put at risk. He would not have needed to drink away his fears, he would not have slept with another underaged girl, he would have not gotten Coco pregnant and risked his whole career. The way she saw it, she had been nothing but poison to the poor guy and yet he still came here for her. Why? That was one thing she wanted to know, why? Why would you possibly care about someone like her? It didn't make sense, even she didn't care about herself.
------ If Kenny could see her now, he would probably just rush to the bottom of the cliff and try to catch her, even if it would kill him at that height and acceleration and Liz not wanting to hurt him wouldn't do it. And then he would slap her and call her an idiot. Especially since this was his place. And it was a beautiful place. The view was breathtaking as it showed the mountains, and the vast openness as they looked further east. The sky was beginning to darken in the east as the sun set in the west causing the bluish coloring to surround them. It would be a beautiful last sight. Maybe one she didn't deserve. Liz's heart was pounding at a million beats per second as she attempted in vain to stay calm. She didn't want to be afraid in that moment but as Riley got closer, that was all she could feel and think of. She swallowed the lump in her throat as she leaned forward and looked down over the ledge, gently kicking a small rock off and watching it bounce as it fell down the rocky terrain. "you told me about this place. that kenny used to come out here." Liz nodded slowly, "I remember that, Kenny loved it here. It was his sanctuary." She replied, softly. Hearing Kenny's name out loud just hurt even more. She bit gently at her bottom lip.
------ Liz did not want Riley here to see this, but what was she supposed to do? She hadn't planned on surviving the night with Darren but because of Riley she had, and her survival just made things worse hadn't it? "what am i doing? what the hell are you doing?" Liz sighed slightly, she didn't turn to look at him. She simply shook her head slightly. "You've already stopped me once Riles and it only hurt more people, I don't try to, you know?" She spoke more calmly as she kept her eyes away from him. "Hurt people... I mean. I don't try to, but it always... " Liz just stopped, she didn't know what to say to get him to understand and walk away. Her conscious mind just wanted him to turn around and get in his car and drive away. And then it happened. The first tear for Isabel Davis shed from Liz's eyes. Liz shook her head, she couldn't cry, she wasn't here to mourn. She lifted her arm and quickly wiped the tear away before it had a chance to trail down her cheek. "i'm not going home. and now that i am here you better believe i'm not leaving without you." Believe it or not, Liz could hear his words in this moment better than she ever had before. And part of her still couldn't accept them, or what they meant, or believe them. "it get's better, liz. you got to trust me on that." She didn't trust him on that for a second. She couldn't. She had been telling herself that since she was fourteen and nothing had gotten better. Not a damn thing. "you really think kenny and izzy would want you to go out like this?" Liz narrowed her eyes at that statement and looked over her shoulder at him for a moment, "Are you kidding me?! What do you know about either of them? You might have met them but you didn't know them and what they would have thought of this situation doesn't matter because this is about me.... this is about what I did to them, and to Darren." Liz took a deep breath and bit back tears as she looked away from him again, "you may have been there that night but you didn't pull the trigger, you have no idea... I'm alone, completely. And every moment I'm alive I'm hurting people but you do know what I've done to your life... so why the hell do you even care anymore?" She had to know. It wouldn't change anything but she had to know why. "I've screwed you over so many times, I should never have gone to LA with you in the car, I shouldn't have shown up at your apartment after Kenny's died, I shouldn't even know you and I'm sorry, I am so sorry but why do you keep following me?" She asked quickly, her heart like a humming bird in her chest.

----SITUATIONS LIKE THESE WERE OFTEN TOUCHED on for teacher seminars. well, jumping off a cliff was not one of them. but when a student's well-being was in danger, there were always guidelines to follow. well, at those seminars, riley paid attention to them, but you can only listen so much. all those seminars didn't really prepare him for something like this. liz wasn't a student anymore and as far as he was concerned, he wasn't really a teacher anymore. he still had to graduate from college. but, he still did what he was suppose to do. asses the situation first. him and liz was alone. it was dark, there was a cliff. there was no weapon. it was just the two of them. however, liz was right at the edge. any sudden movements on his part could catch her off guard and then over the cliff she would go. he'd have to speak in a calming tone, because he was basically reasoning with her. riley was actually really terrified right now, though he was hiding it fairly well underneath his concerned look. he really didn't want her to jump. he was here, he was trying to save her, what if he couldn't?
he knew she would probably kill him if he said he was up here to save her. according to liz, she never needed saving. she was fine just the way she was. riley believed it too, she handled herself better than other girls her age did. but sometimes, riley didn't think there was anything wrong in admitting if you needed a little help. riley relied on his brothers a lot; as they did him. it didn't show that any of them wanted mercy, pity, or too weak to do it themselves. that what he felt was going on with liz. he didn't look at her differently. she just needed to know some things she can't really control. he got from orion and widow that liz basically blamed herself for izzy's death. riley wasn't in any organized crime group, though he was related to some of the giovannis, he wasn't doing anything for them, therefore, unassociated. despite that, he knew how it worked, or how it didn't if you thought about it. there really were no rules. it was a dirty, deceitful lie from the moment you entered that kind of lifestyle to the moment you left it. there was no rules, a lot of retaliation, and a lot of death. he wasn't surprised that because liz killed her brother, some retaliation came back and someone close to her was killed.
liz wasn't looking at him, in fact, she was facing just air. she said to him that he tried helping before it it didn't help her case. that she always unintentionally hurts people. "it's not your fault," he stated unsure if she even was able to hear him. talking was the only thing riley could think of doing. the more they talked maybe then she would realize that this was stupid. that this wasn't the answer to everything. she was right. he only met both kenny and izzy briefly. he didn't have more that two conversations with either of them. but one thing he did know was that they loved liz a lot. they cared about her. riley never lost someone close to him, but his brothers and his parents would hate him if he ditched the life he had because they were gone. they'd want him to live the best possible life. liz looked at him over her shoulder, pissed that he mentioned them. "sorry," he said. "it was obvious they cared about you."
"you may have been there that night but you didn't pull the trigger, you have no idea... I'm alone, completely. And every moment I'm alive I'm hurting people but you do know what I've done to your life... so why the hell do you even care anymore?" riley got closer as she said this. he was only a few feet from her. he could reach out and yank her backwards, but he didn't. sudden movements could backfire, even if he was trying to save her. his life had been extremely simple before he met her. or re-met her since she used to run with reed years and years ago. is she wasn't his student, if he didn't care, none of this could have happened. however, if she hadn't stuck around in his life, he could be reading an obituary of one elizabeth hughes' and there would be no emotional reaction besides 'that's too bad' running through his head. he'd be just finishing up college, trying to get a teaching job, who knows where his life would be now? he probably wouldn't of gotten coco pregnant, he probably wouldn't have even talked to her if it wasn't for the murder of darren jr. crazy how one single person could alter your entire life. did he blame liz? absolutely not. before riley could respond, she continued, asking him after all the crap he's been through with her, why did he continue following her? what a complicated question. "because liz... i... i care a lot about you. i genuinely care about your well-being. i don't like seeing you like this. if i knew why i felt this way, believe me, i would tell you. but i just can't explain it, liz. i don't want you to die." that was the most honest riley could say, trying to make the most sense. the wind cut through his short hair, his jacket keeping his body warm. he could see a little bit over the edge. it was a deep fall. "please, liz," he pleaded. "come back to valkyrie with me."

------------------------------------------
------ The sad truth was, Liz's relationship was the most real she had experienced since Kenny. Her relationship with everyone else in her life had either been a lie, like with her oldest brother and her father, or were really only just starting, like with Orion whom while he was her brother, she never really knew him until recently, when he risked his own life for her's. Oh god, how it possible that they were real and yet, it was also one of the most confusing relations of her life? How was that possible? The only person who had him beat was her relationship with her father. He was the only parent she had ever known. She grew up as a little girl idolizing him. Her mother had died giving birth to her. She had no one but her father growing up. Her Uncle Benji was not much of a kid's person. Her aunt debbie adored her but in more of the "I see you once a year" deal. Some of Liz's siblings were already old when she was a kid, like Darren but at the end of the day, siblings never felt like adults to her, no matter their age. Little Liz, Little Tomboy Liz was a daddy's girl for most of her life. She loved him, he was her father but then she was fourteen and everything changed. Her oldest brother raped her and their father did nothing but tell her she would be the one disowned if she pushed it too far. Darren had the future of the Sirens in his hands. Not even going into the Darren relationship right now but how was she supposed to take that?!
------ At first, she took it like a good little servant and ignored it. She suppressed it. She acted like nothing bothered her, like him being around did give her nightmares. She would hide in the fact that she still had Kenny. She would smirk, say something sarcastic or harshly funny and walk away pretending she owned the world. She pretended, acted, and the girl deserved an Academy Award for her performance. Then, Darren attacked again and she killed him. Murdered him. Dear old Daddy put a price on her head, and now he hated her so much that he took Isabel? She had nothing to this! It wasn't fair! What did she do? What did Liz do that made him hate her so much that he turned her away when she was hurt? He was supposed to love her unconditionally right? That was what all those cheesy family movies portrayed. Did people ever had that relationship with their parents? Or was is true that there was no such thing as a happy family? LIz could hear her father's voice in her head telling her she didn't have the balls to jump. You're too weak. You're pathetic, just do it. You'll be back. And I'll kill you myself. Liz closed her eyes, and shook her head slightly as if attempting to shake out the voice from her head. She opened her eyes once again, they were visibly red around the lids from tear build up and her refusal to let many of those tears free. She reached her hand up and played with her silver sun necklace she usually always wore.
------ Liz continued to ramble in her head nonsensically repeating the events of her life, but mostly hating herself for still missing her dad. She hadn't even registered Riley telling her it wasn't her fault because had she, Liz would have gone into a rant of how it was all very clearly her fault. Maybe it was all for the better, she hadn't heard. She didn't need to hear herself listing her fuck up again. "it was obvious they cared about you." Liz heard him say that, but she did not know how to respond. She could angrily tell him it wasn't obvious because he had never seen Iz and her together and she had only seen Kenny and her together once and Riley was probably distracted seeing as he was pretending to be her boyfriend at the time but they had cared about her. More than that, they loved her. Maybe not Iz, but Kenny had. No one loved her, no one else had ever loved her. Liz nodded as Riley went into explaining how he cared about her and didn't know why. Great, the one curiosity she had left and it was a bust. Fabulous. She sniffed slightly, damn emotions. People were better off without them. Liz peaked down off the cliff once more. "liz. i don't want you to die." She stopped leaning to look off the edge and looked over at Riley once more, glancing back at him before turning away.
------ He should just go. It would be better. Liz just wanted to take the view into account for now. One last beautiful sight... "please, liz, come back to valkyrie with me." Liz shook her head and turned her body more profile to the cliff to look at him better, "What do you not understand?! My dad hates me so much that he killed an innocent girl as my punishment! He told me I was being a little bitch when I was fourteen and bruised from being attacked by Darren. Then Ken, then Iz.... I have no one left... I'm done." She turned around back towards the cliff. "One last chance to walk away Riley." She said plainly. Her voice suddenly void, her eyes drying up in the wind, her arms covered in small goose bumps. She let her feet pull her closer to the edge, hanging off a bit. Her mind wasn't even thinking at that moment, and her heart was calming down. It felt right the further she got. It felt meant to be. Calming, relaxing as she felt it would happen but as gravity began to take ahold and pull her off the edge, her heart nearly jumped out of her chest.
