------ Back in Valkyrie. It felt strange for Widow Hughes. It had been five years. She had been in town for about a day now. She had already met up with Donny and his friend Kale who... well he was interesting. Apparently they rolled into town a couple hours before Widow and her tag along companion who was at this very moment sitting next to her a bit annoyed by the reality that they were in Valkyrie and on the way to his sister's club. Who was he? He was J.R. Corinthos. And despite the fact that they were not together, he was the longest relationship involving sexual relations, she had ever had. Widow was actually excited to be back. She hadn't seen anyone in her five years on the run apart from JR really. I mean there was a smattering of strangers they met but for the most part it was just him and her. He wasn't exactly thrilled when she told him they had to go back. It was hard to explain why too. Part of it was because she shockingly enough found herself missing the city and wanted to reunite all of the old gang. Part of it was because she needed Donny to fake some paperwork for her saying she was accepted into VU Law. Which he would get onto soon enough but today... today was the time for reuniting with her old married friend, Maggie Giovanni.
------ Wid was actually excited to be back. Apprehensive of course, but happy. Whether she wished to admit it or not, she was looking forward to seeing Liz even. Orion and Liz where brother and sister and Widow's Aunt and Uncle despite Liz being her exact same age. There was a long and messy history with all of them but after Izzy was killed, they all realized that they were all they had, they were the only real family they had. Izzy... that was a dark day. And not one you want to mention in front of Donny. That day took the small spark of power hungry in Donny and turned his eyes just flat out black. "Oh and then! when we woke up we were out of Holand and all the way into Russia in some bar on the boarder!" Although not that you could tell anything was wrong with the boy just by looking at him. His looks had grown in, he was living care free. Widow's eyes glanced upward towards the review mirror back at Donny and Kale who were retelling some of their adventures abroad the past five years. Donny had sort of taken off too apparently. Kale shook his head, and in his thick accent which Wid had already learned to love added, "And You can't judge for that cause lets face it... if ya'll were in Amsterdam, what would you have done?" Widow shook her head and laughed slightly, simply because she knew the British man was correct. She would let loose in Amsterdam. She gripped the wheel a bit more firmly as she turned the corner onto the street the M Lounge was on. And glanced at J.R. who still didn't look intensely happy. She smiled and reached over, patting him on the knee, "Perk up, kid. It's your sister, not Lucifer."
------ Kale leaned forward, sort of excitedly and stuck his head in between the two front seats but leaned slightly more towards widow, "Speakin' of, this bird we're gonna go see, is she even half as pretty as you? And if so... is there anyway to move faster?" Kale asked as Widow rolled her eyes("bird" is slang for girl). Ugh... Kale loved it when she rolled those pretty brown eyes. She was just... perfection. But to Kale, pretty much any girl was perfection in his eyes. He was just one of those types. He fell in love with every girl he saw. Or at least he felt like he did. He wasn't picky either. He liked blondes, brunettes, red heads. Thin girls, curvy girls, even chubby girls. The only physical thing that really made him not want to touch you was bad teeth. He wouldn't make fun of the girl but he would not act like he wanted into her pants, which is very different for him. He just couldn't get into it if the girl has fucked up teeth or doesn't brush them enough. Donny tapped him on the shoulder, Kale looked back at his friend, Donny nodded, "She's hot." Widow rolled her eyes again, "Of course she's fucking hot, would I give her the time of day if she wasn't?" Donny and Kale smirked and sat back in their seats, "Well then, lets lite this puppy up." Kale exclaimed as she drove down the street. Widow slowed and pulled the car into a free spot a little ways down the street, despite the stereotypes this female was an excellent parallel parker. She pulled the car into park and shut the engine off. Kale, Widow, Donny and JR all made their way out of the vehicle and began walking down the street towards the club. Wid skipped ahead a bit, walking next to J.R. Her heels clicking on the side walk.
------ The group made it's way into the club when Kale and Donny hung back to run back and put some coins into the meter. JR and Widow entered the club where Widow saw that hot piece of ass that was her best friend. Widow grinned as she walked right up behind the girl with a smile, "Damn, now that's what a call a woman." She greeted before giving Maggie a hug and letting the siblings greet each other before she added, "Oh and by the way, we brought a couple kids with us." She said, almost hoping Maggie would take that the wrong way but as if it the timing was beautifully planned and executed, a few short moments after she said it, Donny came through the front door with a big smile, "Hey hey hey" Donny jogged in and swept Maggie into a hug picking her up off her feet and about as soon as he put her back down from the massive bear hug, she was lifted once again and spun around, this time by Kale, "It is so good to see you, love!"

VALKYRIE, CALIFORNIA, AFTERNOON, M LOUNGE, JANUARY 2012 -----life was shit. boy did maggie hate when life was shit because you know? there was nothing more that you needed when things got hard then to have some of your best buds around to help you pick up the pieces of you sordid and sorry life. maggie had allie, yes, and she would never forget that fact. but there was something about the fact that maggie really only had one friend around during this madness that really struck a nerve with her. was one good, stable friend all she was allowed? had she pushed people away or had she just not had people around in her life to begin with. the sad fact was that even if she’d had more friends around, maggie probably would have been just as sad and miserable as she’d been before. it was likely that no familiar face would have ripped her out of her rut any better than allie had tried, and boy had she tried. allie had been then for her in her darkest times about ready to slap some sense into her. she’d rip her out of her rolling chair in the back office at m lounge and she would force her to go have a girl’s night out and to drink and have a good time. maggie was grateful for that. it woke her up slightly to the ridiculousness of the situation. if it hadn’t been for allie, maggie wouldn’t have gotten the gallery up and running, she wouldn’t have made friends with all of the giovannis just to spite luca, she wouldn’t have done this, that, and the other. there were a lot of things she could contribute to allie’s interference except for her work ethic. no that can of worms was especially reserved for one asshat named luca giovanni.
-----though allie had been the only one around during the past four years, it wasn’t like she was the only one maggie spoke to. no after having run off, and after having taken her brother for company, widow still called her on occasion to give her updates and just to talk to her. widow was closest to being maggie’s best friend. they’d been buds for the past, six-ish years and had known each other before that as well. they were just close. like personalities and all that. and thank the effing lord, widow was on her way back home. maggie couldn’t describe the near relief she’d felt when she’d spoken to widow, talked about the quake, and how she’d said both she and j.r. were coming home. it was like she could almost feel it. soon things would be right with the world. of course maggie had bitched about luca being back and the riot that had ensued, because that was just inevitable, but still there were a lot of things to look forward to with widow’s return. her best friend would be back and so would her reluctant and newly moody brother. maggie didn’t know when the switch finally flipped, but at some point something in j.r.’s head just shook loose and the real criminal in him started to show his face. he was darker, moodier, he liked to pick fights according to what she’d heard. none of this sounded like the sunshine and rainbows version of her brother that maggie had grown up with. j.r. had always been that guy who dreamed of a picket fence and being married and getting out of the crime life he was never actually a part of. she didn’t see what there really was to complain about. he’d never had to do anything for their father and maggie would never ask him to do anything for her on those grounds. it was like he was made for being a part of something he was never actually involved in…which was weird. it was like being mad at the sky for being blue or grass for being green. j.r. was never in this life he hated so much so why bitch about it? -----but after her run-ins with luca there was very little places she could hide. the one place that brought her comfort was the m lounge. it was her haven, it was her baby, and she’d told widow to meet her here with her brother in tow. and really she couldn’t wait to see them. it had been long overdue. maggie really felt the need to reconnect with the only brother she had that didn’t want to kill her. raoul had tried that route and though he was still breathing, maggie hadn’t seen him since before the kidnapping. j.r. was her stable ground, her rock, or at least he had been. maggie didn’t have all too high of expectations for him but just the fact that he would be back and home again would be a start.
-----j.r. knew that all he should have wanted was to see his sister again but honestly? he could not imagine a more miserable place to be than back in valkyrie again. things had been good, they’d been at least tolerable, but here it was like he was seeing his sister’s kidnapping all over again. that day had been a miserable one for him, though never in comparison to what his sister actually went through, and a part of him and broken that day. j.r. couldn’t even figure out what he was mad about the most, the fact that he wasn’t involved in the business and could in no certain terms help out his sister, the fact that they were even in this business in the first place, or the fact that he was the one fucking one who wanted a normal life. even after her scare the thing that set j.r. off the most was that maggie jumped right back into the business. she’d had an out. she’d had a very good reason to walk away from that business and from that bastard she married and get to living a real, normal life. she had the opportunity sitting right there in front of her and what did she do?! she practically spat on it and just dove in once again, this time taking the initiative and making herself an even bigger target. honestly j.r. didn’t know what to think anymore. he didn’t know whether to grab his sister and shake her until she either cooperated or stopped breathing. all he knew was that being back here in this town made his skin crawl and made him worlds more unhappy and cranky than he’d been in their time away. j.r. couldn’t even explain his little field trip. it was like he’d given up on the normal life and just settled for throwing himself into something…well darker. he hadn’t gone straight edge but he definitely hadn’t gone criminal. he was at some abysmally unhappy medium and he didn’t know what to do. the only thing he didn’t want, was to come back to valkyrie where it all began.
-----the atmosphere in the car was parts excited and curious, but j.r. didn’t share any of that enthusiasm. widow tried to talk him into toning it down but honestly? he didn’t think he could. at least valkyrie’s outsides matched his insides now. the place looked miserable. buildings were broken, streets were mangled, and if he didn’t know his sister was alive and well, j.r. would have been back to that angry and worried brother he was so not fond of being. there was a difference between caring and overboard. j.r. somehow always went overboard. the sad part was he didn’t even react when kale stuck his head into the vicinity of the front of the car, asking if his sister was hot. before that might have set him off but now…well now all he wanted to do was grab kale’s face and stuff him back in the back of the car. nothing overly violent. just enough to make him feel better for being back in this scab of a city. in no time they were pulling into the parking lot of what looked to be his sister’s first business. probably a front of some sort, actually he’d be shocked silly if it wasn’t, but it was still a decent looking place. didn’t look like it had gotten hit as hard as some parts of the city. the car stopped, they all stepped out, and widow and j.r. walked into the building sans the nerd herd. widow had spotted maggie first, had hugged her first too, but j.r. had gotten his turn. staring down his sister for a moment, j.r. finally stepped forward, giving his little sister a peck on the forehead before he hugged her. he didn’t let it last long though. he couldn’t bring himself to just grab her up and reminisce about the old days because that always brought him back to the day of the kidnapping. ”ya look good kiddo.” he said gruffly. the first thing he’d said since they’d hit the highway this morning with valkyrie in their sights.
-----”you too j.r.” maggie said with a small smile. she couldn’t believe how different j.r. looked. on the outside he was all the same. still muscular, if not more so, still with that blond, short, curly hair, but his eyes were different and so was his voice. maggie shot a look of “what the hell” over to widow just as the doors to the lounge opened again and the kids widow was talking about came bounding through. maggie could not believe her eyes when donny busted through widow and j.r. and scooped her up in a hug. ”oh my god! look at you!” maggie said as she squeezed donny, a big, bright smile on her face. she found her footing again only to find herself airborne once more by a total stranger. maggie laughed as he spun her around, having to take a moment to find her feet once he put her back down. ”hello to you too.” maggie chuckled as she looked over at this new guy. he was good looking and obviously a bit of fun and he definitely seemed to perk up this bunch a tad. ”hmm how to go about this...oh right, who wants a drink?” maggie said with a smile. she grabbed widow around the waist and lead the bunch through the backstage area of the lounge to the empty showroom where at the back stood a fully stocked bar. ”help yourself.” she said as they made it to the bar stools and she plopped herself down on one. ”so how was the break from reality?” maggie said as she grabbed a shotglass and a bottle of tequila. she looked over at a very quiet j.r. who simply grabbed a glass, and poured himself a few shots of tequila.

------------------------------------------
------ Kale was one of those sorts of people. He had basically been through so much pain that he forgot how to feel it. Or at least, that's what it always seemed like. No one knew about Kale's past. Except for Kale. Not even Donny and Kale knew Donny's biggest secret about being Heyward. But no, Donny still didn't even know Kale's real name. All people really, truly knew about Kale Barker, or technically, the boy who called himself Kale Barker for the moment was that he was from somewhere in the UK and liked to watch things go boom. He was an interesting guy and that's all people really needed to know right? The truth was that the guy was a son of a cop believe it or not. That's right, his father was in law enforcement. Guess Kale wasn't exactly what his father had in mind for a son right? But none of that mattered. At the end of the day, with all the bad things someone could say against Kale's character, he was a good friend to those he cared about. Donny knew Kale had his back. The truth was Kale's early life was nothing that wasn't ordinary. He had sort of a classic, hard home life set up. His father was a cop. His mother a mild tempered weakling. His father was abusive. His mother did nothing for years before abandoning them. Kale tried to protect his sister and failed. So what made Kale be so different from other who lived through similar stories? Fuck like anyone knows. And maybe that was the point. He was an extraordinary person with an ordinary past for no reason but that it was.
------ The rest of the people in this room had much less usual pasts. Equally damaging. Widow was the daughter of one of the worst men she had ever come in contact with. The worst man in her aunt's life as well as Donny's late sister. A man that made them all look kind. Donny grew up the disgrace of his father, outcasted by all the people he cared about except Iz. He watched men die when he was a toddler, and not just die of old age but people murdered by their older siblings, parents, cousins, family friends, people you trusted at one point. Maggie's father was nuts and wanted her dead. J.R. shared that father. Strange isn't it? The source of most all of their problems was in fact the fathers, not the mothers of the children at the club. Yeah children, I said it. They all seemed older than they were, mostly because of their experiences. Although, actually, Kale seemed his age but whatever, his intellect without any training or formal education was impressive. But they were all very young still. Still Young. Donny was twenty-four. For most people, twenty four meant working an shitty job to save up for grad school or perhaps working a shitty job, living at home until they become financially stable. Not hacking into the US Treasury. Maggie was twenty-three. Most twenty three year olds were in a similar position, not running a business on their own. especially not illegal operations. Widow was twenty three and entering law school. That's not that strange but most people who can afford law school, especially at a good school like VU Law, at twenty three are getting some help from the pockets of mom and dad. Not having a talented hacker fake Pre-Law bachelor degrees and transcripts. The American tax payers paying every cent.
------ Now hey, don't judge. The average tax payer is no innocent and besides, if the government could rob use the tax money to build new war machines and personal porches, why shouldn't it pay for her schooling? Widow smiled as Donny swooped down to give Maggie a hug, hearing her comment. It was true. Widow was even surprised. He looked different. He had bulked up some, he was fit before but now it was a bit more defined. He had grown into his chin and ears, to an extent. He walked with more confidence, he had style that suited him but was actually stylish, so far as Wid had observed, he had taken to rocking the vests, like right now for instance. He just felt different but the same old donny all at once. She rolled her eyes as Kale swooped down and picked her up after Donny had put her down. ”hello to you too.” Donny chuckled slightly and patted her arm as Kale still held her, "Meet my friend Kale Barker." Widow walked a few steps closer so she was standing next to Kale and the best friend he still had with her feet off the ground, she laughed and shook her head at Donny. Of course he leaves the important part of that introduction out. She looks up at Maggie as Kale finally puts her down, although he didn't seem to want to. "Yeah... Kale, known to people like us, as Basher." She stated informatively, knowing Maggie would recognize that name, and his reputation for being a bit unstable as well as brilliant. They all knew Kale was not Kale's real name.
------ Maggie smiled, ”hmm how to go about this...oh right, who wants a drink?” Kale nodded and put his arm around Maggie, "Now that is a brilliant idea." He stated before Widow slapped his hand to get it off her, "She's not going to sleep with you, Kale." She said plainly. Kale looked at her stubbornly, "You don't know that." He replied. Widow rolled her eyes, "Like when I said I wouldn't sleep with you." Kale looked almost hurt as Maggie took Wid by the waist and the girls headed to the bar followed by Donny and J.R. Kale stood there for a moment, "But... you don't know that..." He added sort of quietly before jogging slightly to catch up with the group. They all moved towards the bar stools. Widow pulled off her jacket as she looked around, making her way to the stools. She placed her jacket on the seat and sat down on the one next to Maggie and JR, crossing one leg over the other as the little boys ran behind the counter and disappeared. Widow smiled as she saw Kale's hand, and just his hand pop up with a bottle of good quality grey goose vodka, and then clapped her hands a bit as his hand returned upward with a martini shaker and pomegranate juice. "Aww Kale, you already know my favorite?" She asked as both boys appeared from the undercrofts, Donny with a beer. He was simple. Kale smirked as he finished her Pomtini, "course, love." and handed it to her before looking to Maggie who had already got her tequila ready. He looked disappointed but he would keep an eye out, for an opening to be chivalrous. ”so how was the break from reality?” Widow raised an eyebrow and sort of shrugged as she took a drink. Mental note, Kale makes strong drinks for girls. She smiled at Maggie, "I don't know if it counted as a break from reality, if nothing in our lives is much like reality to begin with." She replied cooly but with some amusement in her tone. Donny leaned on the counter from the other side, "That's her way of saying she's back to be a lawyer." He added in a tone that clearly said, guess who had to forge that paperwork. Kale took a shot of vodka and while looking at Maggie and Wid directed a side comment to J.R. "Okay, mate, be honest, how many courtroom fantasies just popper into your head?"
------ Widow shook her head and gave a coy smile, "No, that was me stating fact. But he isn't wrong." She added proudly, sitting up straight a bit to emphasize. She took another sip, before turning back towards Maggie and JR, "But I'll let your brother fill you in on some of the other details," She began glancing at her friend/lover/best friend's brother/person. She looked back at Maggie and bit her lips slightly before asking, "Dare I ask about married life?" She asked but before Maggie could answer, Kale could be heard repeating the word 'married' sadly in the background before he looked over at Maggie, walking up to her from behind the bar, "I just think you should know, it's alright, I never believed in monogamy anyway, love. What we have will not suffer." He added as though he was reassuring her that he wasn't going to break up with her in the imaginary love affair in his head already.

VALKYRIE, CALIFORNIA, AFTERNOON, M LOUNGE, JANUARY 2012 -----strange, the way people change over time. j.r. wasn’t sure how fond he was of the notion that he had in fact changed beyond belief but the fact of the matter was that it was there. everything had changed after his sister had been kidnapped and j.r. had found out he was one of the last to know. first and foremost was the way that he’d acted after she’d gotten attacked. he’d had been distant and he knew that. it was like he’d cared too much but at the same time he cared too little and he’d had to distance himself from the fact that he was just an afterthought to everyone about the mob life to which he was supposed to be “groomed” to take over at some point. bullshit. regardless, he had hugged her and told her he was glad she was okay but it had been days after she’d been rescued by luca and some part of that had really affected him. it was like a wire in his head had fried because he couldn’t quite understand why he’d been the last to know. every time before that j.r. had been her go-to man. with her having a partner that was a little more understandable but to wait a few days to even tell your brother that you had been kidnapped at the docks? to drop it on him that she’d already met with their father and that when shit hit the fan she’d blown a hole in his kneecap and proceeded to attach herself to the giovanni clan? maggie had always been waging war with their father for a foothold in the business, j.r. knew that. what he couldn’t understand was why. it wasn’t glamorous. maggie saw what it turned people into, etc. yet at the same time she still craved it because it wasn’t something she could easily attain. saddest part was that though she now was neck deep in mob business, j.r. had done just about everything he knew how to prevent her from getting into this life. while she was battling it out with her father in an attempt to get her footing in the business, j.r. had wanted none of that for her and had tried to keep her out of it, or had prayed she never succeeded and at one point he’d followed her to valkyrie simply to try to screw up her job and make it appear like she wasn’t ready nor would she ever be. he knew that one or so meetings gone wrong and their father would give her the boot from the business, but j.r. didn’t know juan wanted to use her failures as an attempt to kill her. the fact that his father hated his sister had always been there staring him in the face but he’d never thought it was so strong as to prevent them from being a family. needless to say j.r. had heard one or two things from his father after maggie had shot him and taken the business from him. all rants about how his loyalty should be with his father and if he wanted any security later on he needed to find maggie and put a bullet through her head. at that point he knew that it was just time to get away.
-----the time spent away weren’t as bad as many people would think. people would have thought he hated it and all other life simply because he had gone away so angry and stayed so angry but in all reality j.r.’s time away had been some of the most relaxing he’d had ever. he was away from everything, his father, his sister, and every reminder of the life he came from. not only that but he’d run off with someone who in the plainest terms didn’t give a damn about emotions or trying to forge some kind of relationship but instead just enjoyed the time away. j.r. loved the time away and he loved that widow didn’t make that difficult. running off on your own was hard but depending on who you ran with that made the situation all the more difficult. that wasn’t the case with widow. when they needed one another they were there and that was more often than not but the understanding always was that there was no other sort of attachment. they simply were. no strings. no walls. no boundaries. they were free to do what they wanted with who they wanted but in the end they were there for each other if need be and that had been something j.r. had desperately needed. funniest part was though that through it all j.r. hadn’t really craved anything. the only thing he had a lust for was leaving the past behind him and he’d done so successfully for a long time. j.r. had surprised himself with just how easily he could filter out his family and everything else and just live life for himself. sure he wasn’t doing the safest of things and the old j.r., the one he’d left behind in valkyrie, would have hung his head in shame at the fact that he’d had some big opportunity for a normal white-picket fence life and hadn’t taken it. there was always this one portion of j.r.’s brain that knew no matter what that he wasn’t destined for something normal. he would never be that father of three who dropped the kids off for soccer practice or who kissed boo-boos and wiped away tears kind of guy. he would always be the son of a former mobster, now brother to another mobster, and all around spawn of criminals. it was in his blood, it ran through his veins, and it was something that could no longer be denied. no longer did j.r. hide behind this need to be a good guy. he’d played the role of a teddy bear for far too long and throughout his denial he’d always felt some sort of pent up anger that would eat at his insides until he just had to vent somewhere. now that he’d excepted his fate that portion of himself was gone. on the surface he looked like a meaner version of the j.r. that had once been but on the inside he really was a man more at peace than he’d ever been before, and he liked it.
-----j.r. didn’t say much as the bunch moved to the bar, nor did he really speak up after taking a seat. granted j.r. hadn’t been the chattiest of people back before his hiatus from valkyrie but even this was a long stretch of time without really chatting it up. it wasn’t like he was shy but private conversations held a whole new meaning for him now and there were things that he would talk about should he have to when he and his sister was alone. other than that no one else needed to know. he poured himself a second shot almost before the first had even finished trickling down his throat but that didn’t matter. his tolerance over the years had gone through the roof meaning that it would take a decent portion of a bottle to even give him a buzz. something about the situation and the timing just didn’t make for a buzz-worthy atmosphere all-around but for the sake of his sister he would try and make an effort to be included. he smirked as kale piped up about courtroom fantasies but didn’t add to the conversation. no words were good words when it came to kale barker, this he knew. after all he didn’t need to add any fuel to the kale-fire seeing as how he was already on such a role hitting on his sister. it was common place for him to hit on anything with a pulse so it didn’t repulse him as it would had it been any other random schmuck, but that didn’t mean he was totally immune. instead of piping up or tensing up, j.r. simply hit the bottle again. what can i say, the man’s easy to distract when booze is around. -----maggie on the other hand was completely immersed in conversation and was having a blast. it was so nice to see old friends again and having noticed so many changes was refreshing. there was so much about donny in particular that screamed new man, though she knew just about as well as anyone else how damaged he was by izzy’s death. still for someone who had taken it as hard as he had, donny was looking good. it was nice to see a confidence in him that came with this new look that she was so completely digging. as long as he didn’t fall right back into steps with his old life that had left him hanging over andie wallace like an addict on a dealer, well then she was super happy about this turn of events. widow too had surprised her a bit with all this talk of becoming a lawyer. it was a nice corruptible profession in itself but when you involved a siren that was when the fun really commenced. still maggie was happy for widow. if anyone could argue a point to death it was her and quite frankly she’d trust widow in her corner over any of the finest paid attorneys in the country and would make a point to be bringing her a lot of business in the future. ”just make sure to save a few of those billable hours for me. i’m sure i can find you plenty of cases to work with my name all over them.” maggie smirked. being in cahoots with the giovanni’s had its perks but maggie would trust no one else with her life when push came to shove. widow would be the lawyer at the top of her list if she agreed to it. ”that is unless you’re going all bleeding-heart on us and saving your best arguments for pro-bono cases and lost causes. if that’s the case then best of luck to you sweetheart.” maggie raised her shot glass in mock toast to her best friend, a bright smile on her face. the smile of course dissipated as talk of luca came to the forefront. ”ugh” she said rolling her eyes. ”he left me behind for four years and comes back all of a sudden the other night. then gets pissed when i point a gun at him. honestly at this point the bastard should expect it. he knows he won't be a welcome guest in my bed for a long time.” a little tweaked, maggie ran her fingers through her hair, the scrape of her fingernails along her scalp proving to be quite a tension reliever. ”he’s surprised that he’s practically dead to me and acts like i’m throwing a tantrum. he doesn’t seem to realize that what he did hurt me.”
-----maggie through her hands up in a mock surrender and immediately poured herself another shot which lasted about two seconds in the glass before it was travelling down her throat. as she placed the glass back on the counter, maggie noticed kale sauntering up to the bar and talking about how their relationship would not suffer. ”oh thank god. i don’t know what i’d do without you love.” maggie said with a smile, egging on the situation because it amused her. ”what are you doing behind that bar when you could be cozying up to me?” she asked as if she were genuinely serious and in a way she might as well have been. kale hardly knew her and yet he already appreciated her more than her own worthless husband cared to. at this point she was so frustrated with her own marriage that she was willing to play along with this stranger…to an extent.
