--- "I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, BILLY." riley and his close friend billy friis walked slowly down one of the hallways in the valkyrie museum. sometimes, you just needed to vent to someone who wasn't part of your family and five year olds could only listen for so long before they wanted to play barbies with you, so an another adult was something riley was going to take advantage of. the good thing about billy was that she knew about his family drama, situation, whatever you wanted to call it. so, when riley called and asked if he could talk to her, she said she would gladly listen to him, so he got ready. regan wasn't around to look over tatum, so riley was just going to bring her along and while he talked to billy drop her off at the kid's interactive center in the museum.
the reason why he needed to talk to billy was because of reed. dealing with reed had been a life-long battle on his part. between the partying, the possible alcoholism, and the most recent death of shelby, his younger brother was playing on the edge of death and riley was worried. riley was always worried. it had become his second job. riley had his hands in his pockets as they strolled at a slow pace. "i'm just so... worried. on top of shelby and then the embarrassment at the fish fry, i don't know what to do." maybe someone would just tell him that he shouldn't do anything. reed was a grown man and needed serious help. it was just so heartbreaking to see someone you really loved having this much trouble. at least with regan it had been easier. regan was only sixteen when he was sent away to rehab after a serious drug problem, but now reed was twenty four when reed was good with everyone, he was great with everyone, but for the past few months since the accident, it was only chaos. the public intoxication at the fish fry only proved to riley that reed had become his number one priority again. reed had been so drunk so early that day, riley and regan had to take him back to riley's apartment. riley had to apologize to mary connors because reed had been his typical asshole-drunk self. riley was always cleaning up after reed's mistakes and the sad thing was, reed probably didn't even notice. "he hasn't had a father in so long," riley continued. "maybe that is why he does the things he's done. he's lived without consequence for so long. or maybe he feels like no one is there for him," riley was rambling, but he was saying what had been jumbled up in his head for so long, he felt indecisive muttering them out loud. read may not legally have a father, but shouldn't reed know by now that for the past seven years, riley did the best he could at acting like one? "i don't know. it's just... i feel like this is only going to end with him in jail, in the hospital, or dead."
riley ran a hand through his hair. "i'm sorry. loading all this on you. thanks for just listening." riley stopped and turned to face her. "that's what i'm here for," she smiled at him and riley just sighed. yeah, it was really good to just let it all out. especially to someone whose last name wasn't turner. well, him and regan had had numerous conversations about this. riley was confident if shelby was never killed and she was still alive, then reed would still be good. everything would be fine, reed would be happy, everyone would be happy, and they'd still be planning on getting married. and everything would be... great. did the turner family at least deserve that for a little bit? they had so much stuff going on between all of them from rehab, to alcoholism, to assisting a murder. yeah... riley hadn't ever really gotten over that. everyday for the past five years, it always came up in his head. riley had his own demons. demons he never could share with anyone else. it had been hard getting through it by himself, but somehow he hadn't been able to drive him crazy yet.
"well, i promised tate i'd take her to ice cream." they started walking towards where riley had initially dropped her off. "again billy, thanks for listening." he cast a glance over at where tatum was and he saw her running around. of course. he did notice some brunette woman chasing after her but he just assumed that it was one of the employees manning the play area. he looked back at billy and gave her a hug. "we'll come back another day and you can show tate around the place. she'll love it." "yeah, i'll definitely do that," billy said. riley turned back around and walked through the doors of the play area. "tatum. let's go get some ice cream." tatum poked herself out from behind the brunette woman. she smiled and ran over to him. when the woman turned around riley was struck dumb. mainly because the woman he was looking at had been dead for the past five years. at least that was what he was told. "oh, my god." he muttered under his breath, shock written all over his face.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/VsideBaller/liz/ban/bka.png); width: 457px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30; -moz-border-radius: 35 35 35 35; -webkit-border-radius: 35 35 35 35;]hi » My God, amazing how we got this far It's like we're chasing all those stars --- AND SHE REALLY WAS GOING TO HELL, damn it. Elizabeth Sirena Hughes had changed a lot since coming to Valkyrie -- oh -- six, maybe seven years ago. It was just, everything in her life was different know but she wasn't. She was still the sarcastic bitch she had ever been, although perhaps more controlled and she still had a hard time deciding whether or not that was a good thing. After all, is not it the uncontrollable that change history. Normal people are boring and she was having a very hard time trying to be "normal." I mean, okay perhaps her opinion of "normal" was warped. For Liz, it meant she was not actively participating in gang warfare. But she still lived with a hacker, a parolee, and an unstable bombs expert who liked to deal with deadly chemicals in his underpants on the kitchen table. And she had the feeling if they were not all so fucked up, she would just be done. The truth was she stole a scratch off ticket AND a pack of gum from the gas station on her way to work today. GOD! she didn't know what was more pathetic. That she still had the urge to steal, or that stealing a fucking pack of gum actually gave her a little bit of satisfaction. It's a pack of gum for christ's sake. But it really was sad how nostalgic she got for the action of crime. Liz was happy she was out of that world, really, it took her forever and a lifetime to escape but that did not mean that at least once a week, she found herself in Donny's room listening to him prattle on and on about his current computer scam or job he's doing. Or even in the kitchen learning how to make all sorts of home-made bombs from Kale, not that she would ever use them but still, she had to admit, wearing goggles, working with chemicals and blowing up cheap furniture in the backyard, it is so much fun.
--- SHE WOULD DAYDREAM ABOUT THAT kind of shit all the time. It was pathetic and she knew it. There wasn't much more in the world she hated apart from being pathetic. Liz took a coin from the pocket of her late brother Kenny's old coat and scratched at the ticket. Look at that. She won two dollars. If she had paid the buck for it she would have doubled it. She shook her head slightly as she pulled herself up into her red truck. Five fucking years and Liz still sported the beat up red pick up truck... why did she do this even though her and the other "rebel!sirens" as Iz had once dubbed their new and improved fucked up group, even though they had about four cars? two of which were very nice and fancy, kind of retro. The third being a very usable but not as stylish Jeep? Well, one. Orion very rarely let people drive his '67 Impala. Two. The sports car was more Widow's style than Liz's. And the Jeep, god she loved the Jeep, but usually Donny and Kale used that baby. Leaving Liz with the Pick up truck and honestly, she loved that truck. It may not be in it's peak shape, but thanks to Orion's mechanical wisdom, it had been a loyal companion to them for years. The truck, like the Jeep and the impala, they had stories to them. Histories that couldn't be faked by sleek lines and smooth revved up engines. Every dent had a tale to tell. The truck was a character. A true individual. And it had become so from it's roughed up past. The pick up truck was to Liz, a rebel!siren all on its own. It was one of them. So she got stuck with it, willingly and happily. Now, did most people look at her a little weird when she pulls into the Museum's staff parking lot with this? Being as she's one, a girl. Two, an attractive girl to many peoples standards although honestly, she rarely ever thought about appearances, she had more important things to worry about. She wasn't vain, or self conscious about her appearance, of which Widow was both. She just didn't worry. Though, had she been born with an extremely slow metabolism or really bad skin, she might not be so cavalier. I digress, the point is, most people don't look at her and assume she would be driving a massive, beat up red pick up truck. To anyone who knows her though? It fits her nicely.
--- LIZ PUT THE TRUCK INTO PARK AND opened the door before hopping out of it. Working at the museum was probably her favorite part of being "normal." Her boss, Willow Friis, whom everyone called Billy, was incredibly smart. A bit awkward and incredibly quirky but she was nice and fun to be around so it made the job easy. Most of the people Liz worked with, she got along with. Liz raised her eyebrows and smirked at the thought, that was rare. She had never really liked a large group of people, ever. Although Liz did sort of dislike Susie who worked in the small Day Care. It was really only used when there was museum events but people who's children just could not handle walking around the museum for three hours would be left there two during the normal days. Liz didn't get it. When she was a kid, she begged her dad to take her to the natural history museums around Chicago but he never would. Liz remembered seriously sitting outside the Field Museum for five hours before Kenny found her. They hopped a train to Milwaukee and went to their slightly cheaper public museum. He told her it was smaller than the Field but more fun. He was right. Or at least, she's assuming he was as she had still never been inside the Field museum but Milwaukee's museum was organized in this completely surrounding you, total-habitat dioramas kind of way. Most museum would have dioramas behind glass that you look at through the windows, but the Milwaukee one created the diorama around you, it was awesome. This place did that a lot, not for all the exhibits but for many of them, maybe that was why Liz loved the place.
--- ONCE INSIDE AND WORK HAD BEEN rolling for a few hours, Liz needed a bit of a break. Four hours of work meant she had given four planetarium shows and given three guided tours through the astronomy wing of the museum which was pretty much where she lived. She tugged slightly at the sleeves of her sweater. She was never really a cardigan girl but working there required her to look at least semi-professional when giving tours and stuff. Liz leaned against the wall and slid down onto one of the benches. She reached for her name pin to take it off for her fifteen minute break but before she could undo it she heard her name being called. "Liz! Liz!" Looking up she saw Susie calling her to come over to the day care room down the hall. Liz rolled her eyes, what now? She stood up and walked over to Susie, "Okay so would you mind watching the kids for a bit? Pplllleeeaassee?" Liz grimaced slightly, "Don't beg it's undignified." She replied monotoned. But Liz had to admit, tired feet or not, she always enjoyed chillin' with the kids for a bit, well some of them, some of them were hard not kick in the ass for being such idiots. Susie had a tendency to be a flake and since Liz agreed one time to watch the kids for a bit, now she was calling on her all the time. "Liz." Susie spoke semi-sternly, as if she was one of the kids being taken care of. "Now, I happen to know the kids all love you." Liz rose an eyebrow in disbelief, "Oh shut it, they do... I think, anyways, my boyfriend has something to ask me, I think he might propose." Susie looked at her expectantly but Liz just looked at her like she was nuts, "You wouldn't want me to miss my own proposal right?" Liz nodded slightly, "Well that would be a tragedy." She replied through dry sarcasm.
--- LIZ JUST WATCHED SUSIE'S FACE for a moment. Oh god, that sickening expectant smile was a gross site. Liz sighed and rolled her eyes, "Fine fine fine, but tell your boy he owes me a free chai next time I go get coffee for people." Susie exclaimed in a loud high pitched squeal and attempted to hug Liz as she thanked her but Liz ducked under arm to avoid it. As Susie grabbed her coat and ran from the room, Liz turned around to see a small girl, looked around five, starring up at her. Liz looked down at the kid for a moment before the little girl finally spoke. "I don't like her." Liz raised her eyebrows and smirked slightly, "You neither, huh? Does she steal your breaks too?" Liz added walking further into the room where there were maybe a total of six kids, most of whom were very content with their toys. The little girl who had spoke to her shook her head, "She ignores us or sings to us." Liz scrunched up her nose, "Ew that's worse. Sorry. What's your name?" Liz asked as she walked over to the CD player, the little girl following, "Tatum." Liz smiled, "Well, Tatum, I was thinking of getting these kids some more energy, givin' Susie something to actually do when she gets back, rile 'em up and I kinda need your help. How about it?" Liz didn't even need to sell it, that girl knew exactly what Liz meant. She grinned an oddly familiar smile and nodded.
--- WITHIN TEN MINUTES TATUM AND LIZ had the whole group of kids running around and dancing to the like of 'Let My Love Open the Door' by Pete Townsend, 'I Feel Good' and multiple other James Brown songs. It was a full on dance party, although not that rowdy. Honestly, Liz would not have let things get out of control, she just assumed after a day of Susie the kids needed to release some energy. Maybe fall asleep in the car after their parents come and get them. And as the song 'This Will Be' by Natalie Cole came on, Tatum who was dancing around Liz popped her head to the side to see around Liz to the door before she yelled Daddy and hopped off the blocks and ran over to him. Liz let her gaze follow Tatum's running as she turned around and saw a man she thought she might never see again. Riley Turner.... Yeah last time she saw him... Yeah... Liz put on a smile, "Right... She would be your kid." Liz said jokingly, sort of. She chuckled slightly, "God just loves me." Liz nodded and bit her lip a bit. She stepped over to the other side of the room where Riley was standing look more shocked than her. She laughed slightly, this seemed awkward. She looked down at Tatum, "He okay?"

--- A LOT HAD HAPPEN OVER FIVE YEARS IN RILEY'S LIFE. he knew this typically happened to everyone who looked back at where their life was five years ago and said "damn, a lot has changed." for riley, he was one of those people. five years ago, he was a college senior who thought he was very responsible until he was an accomplice to murder and got a senior in high school pregnant. it was a fall from grace for valkyrie's golden boy who out of his brothers, was the most reasonable, exceptional student, and actually had an idea of what he wanted to do beyond high school. riley was the self-righteous, all-american looking, finds the good in everyone, boy. now riley was a high school teacher at the very place he attended high school, at the famed valkyrie academy. he was a father. a single father, really, to a five year old girl he took raising her one day at a time. he was older, he more self-aware of his life, and he still managed to fool everyone that knew him that he was still the same old riley. would he change anything that happened? absolutely not. he loved tatum with all of his heart and he knew it was a series of difficult events that lead him to having her. it was hard, it was terrifying at some times, but to have tatum wake up on saturday mornings demanding they play dress-up, made it all worth it.
was riley ever in love with coco lehoux, the woman he got pregnant and had tatum with? no. the feelings were mutual though, and actually they ended up becoming really good friend over the course of the pregnancy. by the time tatum came, riley loved coco, he just wasn't in love with her. there was a big difference. he thought it was great for tatum to be brought up with both her parents on great terms with each other and not always fighting about visitations and who got her what weekend and what not. what coco and him had for the first couple years were great. they never lived together but they were there for everything. they watched movies with her, they colored, taught her to walk, played with her. riley had to hand it to the both of them, they were great parents for not knowing what the hell to do most of the time.
and something happened when tatum was two. coco just left. she dropped tate over at riley's apartment because riley and tatum were going to have a father/daughter night. coco said goodbye and told riley to drop her back off in a couple days at coco's apartment. it was like normal. well, up until riley went over to coco's place for her to take tatum. that's where he found the note. on her kitchen table because they both had keys to the other's place. coco left. she said she just couldn't do it anymore. for not being in a relationship with her, riley sure felt like he had his heart ripped out and smashed into little pieces. he spent a solid three weeks looking for coco, but he soon realized if she didn't want to be found, she wouldn't be. he thought maybe after a few months she'd return, maybe she needed a break. riley was really giving her the benefit of the doubt. but here they were, tatum was now five and riley still hadn't heard from her. he tried everything, talked to coco's parents, her friends. it was either they didn't know or they were hiding it. riley was hoping it wasn't the later. every once and awhile tatum would ask where her mom was, but he would say she had to go away and he wasn't sure where she was. coco was the second most important female that left on him. but now that number might go back to one.
liz hughes was dead. or so, that was what he was told over five years ago. riley saved liz. or at least he liked to believe he did. he saved her from jumping off a cliff outside of town. he kissed her, he held her, he saved her. and then a couple days later without hearing from her, he went looking. which back then, was down a couple of flights of stairs to where the davis had set up shop. orion, liz's brother, stopped him and told riley that liz was dead. riley didn't believe it at first. but what was he to do? all the sirens had cleared out within a couple days. and then they were gone. almost like they were never in valkyrie in the first place. he just couldn't believe that she was dead. he just... saw her days before that. riley almost didn't want to believe it. he didn't realize how big of an impact she had on him until he believed she was dead. riley was always confused by her, he had didn't know if he loved her, but, he sure felt something for her. was he a sucker to say her name crossed his mind several times a week for the past five names. he knew her life was hard. he had just hoped that no matter where she was right now, she was at peace.
but everything was now thrown out of orbit. liz was walking towards him. everything about her looked the same as he remembered. the hair, the eyes, the smile. the way she walked, the way she was looking at him right now like he was the one that was crazy. he heard he voice, exactly the way he remembered five years before. "he okay?" she seemed to be talking to tatum, who was standing by him. "daddy." tatum spoke, but it's like he didn't hear it. tatum shook his leg, but he didn't feel it. instead he took a step forward. and another step, and another until he wrapped his arms around her and just gave her a hug. "you're alive," he said, breathing a sigh of relief. he closed his eyes for a moment and opened them again. "he said you were dead." he pulled away, hands on her shoulders and looked at her. "holy shit," he said and chuckled a little. and just like that he shook himself out of the chance. he backed up and tatum walked around him. "i see you already met tate," he said motioning to his daughter. "tatum elizabeth turner," tatum said and crossed her hands across her chest. riley forgot she was onto the phase where she realized she had a middle name and wanted everyone to know it. little did she know the person her middle name was named after was playing with her minutes before.

--- THERE WERE MANY THINGS LIZ did not like. There were many things Liz hated. She did not enjoy feeling lost. She did not enjoy feeling vulnerable. She hated feeling like she was not in control of everything to do with herself, including emotions and her sometimes acidic tongue. She did not like feeling transparent. And all of this would happen when Liz was around RIley Delrick Turner. Yet, she could never bring herself to dislike him or hate him. She could never really define what she had felt for him, all she had known for sure was that it was very strong and protectiveness was a part of it and that scared her. It was the one thing Riley and her had always agreed on, there was no way to define them, or how they were. There was only denial in her past for him. They had a history, no one could deny that but there nature of what had happened was something Liz kept locked away for no one to find and honestly, he was better off for it. He was with her the night she killed her brother. He was with her the night Kenny was killed. And he was with her when she tried to kill herself and very literally pulled her back from the edge of a cliff.
--- LIZ WAS WEAKENED BY PRETENDING to be strong for so long. She was weakened by constantly pretending that her father hadn't hurt her, that her brother hadn't hurt her. It was years of sucking it up and ignoring his hand going a bit too low when he hugged her and giving her ass a little squeeze. Years of ignoring her Dad trying to slightly suggest she spend more time with Darren because he knew it would make him. Years of just pretending it wasn't happening. So when the guilt over killing Darren had the guilt of Izzy being killed for it when it could have been easily avoided had she told someone Riley was there, which she doesn't hold any regrets with not saying a word but she still felt horrible another person who wasn't at fault was killed. Basically her father only needed one person involved dead. Liz pretended to act alone, keep Riley safe. When the Sirens couldn't seem to kill Liz, they killed Isabel Davis, an innocent who was very close to all of the Sirens here. There is a long and extended story of why these events took place but for now, all you need to realize is that she, in a way, was responsible for all of the pain and all of the death in her life. If she had kept Riley from following her that night, Darren wouldn't be dead, Izzy would not be dead, She would have been. But also... Liz's mind added, this beautiful little girl named Tatum would not have been born.
--- THE LAST TIME LIZ SAW RILEY WAS five years ago and seeing him stand there now was threatening to send a rush of memories from that day. It was the day Isabel was murdered and the last hit Liz's damaged mentality could take so she got into her truck, the same truck she drove to this very museum today, and five years ago she drove it to a cliff to the west. A cliff from which you can see the boarder into Arizona which was her older brother Kenny's favorite spot. It was his dream to live free and easy in the South West. New Mexico, Arizona, the Western side of Texas, near El Paso, the territories of his dreams and therefore Liz's. So when she felt like she needed to break free, she went to the cliff in which Kenny saw his freedom. Standing on the edge of that cliff made her feel like she could fly. Fly away at least. She wanted to just, not feel any of it anymore. She had decided that it was the end. It was the most pitiful moment in her life and she regretted it greatly. Riley was the one that saved her from that. Of all the times he showed up for her, that was probably the most important.
--- RILEY TURNER HAD SAVED HER LIFE. Plain and simple. She could never forgive herself that she had actually taken the step of the edge but Riley had grabbed her back just in time and hugged her close and kept her safe. Something he had said reminded her that she had one person left to protect. Kenneth's daughter. She was still at the Siren headquearters and all of them were prime examples of why a child should not be left there. So she left, it was the last time she saw Riley, right up until now, Because here he was. Same manner of walking. Same voice, same smile. And a new daughter, who Liz could only assume that was the girl he had with Coco, who was her best friend at the time. She hadn't seen her in years either. but as surprised as she was to see him, He was looking at her like a ghost and then, all of sudden, his arms were around her. She tried to hide a small smile at the feeling when "you're alive... he said you were dead." A look of moderate confusion formed on her face as Riley pulled away. "What are you talking about?" Liz asked him, a bit quietly. He pulled away, his hands on her shoulders. When he dropped them as his daughter came forward again. She had met the girl, They had gotten along well, Liz smiled at her as she said her name, her mind freezing a little as she said her middle name, Elizabeth... Liz glanced up at Riley at the name but turned back to Tatum, "Well, it's nice to meet you again Tatum." But not able to resist a little tease to deflect any real emotions of sentimentality she looked up at riley, "I'm guessing that name's a coincidence, right?" She asked with a smirk and sarcastic tone.
