--- IT had been a strange few weeks for the hacker known as A.Heyward. For the past five years, the hacker had stayed no where for very long. Partied like he had never partied in his entire life. He learned how to laugh at the small things without ever laughing honestly. He learned how to break a girl's heart and how to not give a damn about it. He always knew how to make snarky comments to the big stuff machismo men that thought they could kick his ass, but now he could make those comments to the people he respected. He knew how to just... let go of everything and live each day like his last. Kale was a big help in learning that last one. For the last five years, he remained to be A.Heyward and he enjoyed it. He loved how freeing it felt to no give a damn about anything. The people in this house were the only people he cared about and they all knew how to take care of themselves. He thought he would never go back but then... one little fucking family had to go and ruin that. Not that it was there fault, it wasn't. It was his, he knew it was a bad idea to go over there. God damn his ridiculously strong curiosity. And he wasn't planning for that woman to be able to recognize him when she hadn't seen him since he was a day old. It seemed impossible to him anyone could. He felt bad for them. He actually felt for them... it was... it was like his mind was trying to get him to stop being Heyward and just becoming Donny Davis again, a pathetic bleeding heart weakling Heyward wanted nothing from but brain power and a name.
--- Going by Donny was find with him. Secrecy was important but it killed him to think of who he was five years ago. So dependent on Andromeda Wallace as she played with him back and forth. He had barely felt a thing when he saw her on the pier that day. Five years ago he was pathetic. Not that he wasn't used at all today. But now he regulated when and how. Donny was the sole bill payer really. Except for Liz and Orion who both paid their portions. But Donny paid for his, Wid's and Kale's. He also paid for Wid's schooling. Then again, it took him a couple of key strokes to get paid. He was a wealthy kid. He had an emergency fund with about sixty grand in it in case they have to hit the road and he doesn't have time or access to computers along the way. He just finished transferring about ten grand from the false business account he had created that takes a certain amount from every big business that uses US Banking as their provider. He regulated it. If it was an exceptionally large business, he might take a hundred or so, because they're not going to care that much about a couple hundred and they're not going to lose another thousand to pay someone to find where the error happened when it might have just been a typo. Small big biz, he might take anywhere from twenty-five to seventy-five bucks each for the same reason. He made the lost amount vary from month to month too. Sometimes he wouldn't take any from one business and then take from a different one, just so it didn't look like a constant drain. That money was all wired into the false business account once a month and that he would access and bring into their pockets. Usually paid about ten grand a month, so believe me, they were doing well. Especially for living in a house that many would consider run down. But then again, non of them were used to mansions and that would make it a bit obvious when the only two with real jobs worked at the museum and a car garage.

--- THE rest of the Sirens were around someplace. Kale Barker was a man of his own secrets and the only one in the Siren house who was never a Siren, ever. He worked with the brutes a few times but he had always been a free agent. But seriously, if someone thinks Donny's secretive, they don't know anything. Donny is a famous hacker whose alias is A.Heyward. He has killed three men and he hides his feelings. But Kale knew all this about D-Day(donny's nickname by kale). So did Liz, Wid, and Orion. But no one, not one knew Kale's real name. They knew the name Kale was made up because when they first met him his name had been Harry... harry something. Pretty much the only true thing anyone knew about him was that he was British and was a bit off his rocker. Even right now, a basic Thursday, late afternoon, his hair was a mess, he was wearing large white goggles with red eyepieces and he was shockingly enough wearing them over his eyes while working as opposed to just on his head. He was still in a wife beater, socks and boxers though. He stripped some dead batteries and drained the remaining acid. He was trying to see if he could build mini-bombs that would be strong and destructive but have a contained blast. Usually, stronger bomb equals big explosion, Kale wanted to see if he could make a stronger bomb with a smaller explosion.
--- WIDOW Hughes walked into the dining room, also known as Kale's lab. He had gotten kicked out of the kitchen when Orion found the Lye mixed in with the condiments and almost ate it. Kale thought it was funny. Orion didn't. Something about almost burning your esophagus from the inside out did not appeal to him. She walked in texting on her phone and as she passed the side of the table she pulled a couple batteries out of her pockets and dropped them into Kale's donation box. Anything they want to give him that is related to electronics, engineering, batteries, soap, hair spray, anything really. Widow looked down at him placing her phone in her back pocket. "Where is everyone?" Kale stuck his tongue out of his mouth as he concentrated, right now he was only using zinc-carbon batteries that have acidic ammonium chloride or zinc chloride electrolyte. He later wanted to make one using Alkaline batteries, just to see if he could and how it would change the boom. After he slowly removed the outer coating of the battery and cut into the protective steel using tubing cutter. You would think they would make a harder steel to protect such a volatile fluid but whatever.
--- WHEN he finished he looked up and at the girl with a large smile, "Are you feeling lonely, Widow? I could help out with that you know." Widow rolled her eyes, "I'm good thanks, don't blow the place up." She added as she walked out of the dining room, across the hall into the living room. Kale chuckled slightly before lighting up one of his burners letting the acid he collected begin to heat up when he heard the doorbell. Kale looked up and walked over to the window where he saw a girl waiting on the front porch. He dashed to the front door and opened it smiling at the new comer pulling his goggles off his eyes and letting them sit on top of his head, it made the slight smudging from the smoke show in an outline around his eyes, "Well, aren't you a site for sore eyes, love? I've been waiting for you." He greeted her, not knowing who the hell she was and not caring. The door opened wider as Wid had come over to check it out, "Who are you?" She asked defensively, but before the girl could reply Kale cut in, "Wid, you're going to scare her away." Widow looked at Kale, head to toes, "You're wearing willy wonka protective goggles and mountain dew underwear and you think I'll scare her away?" And with that, the two began bickering, both ignoring the dark haired girl in the doorway. |

was it really that much of a shock that none of this made sense? of course not. carly had been fuming for days, wondering just what kind of voodoo magic her family had been put under. no matter how she tried, she couldn't understand what was going on. of course she could understand the basics and she could understand the obvious. it was the why that evaded her. she knew that after all this time her mother had been keeping a gigantic secret from her kids all for the sake of helping them to keep their sanity, but how could she really have done it? how could she have offered so much love and support to her four children while lying to them all at the same time. of course it wasn't like emilia had any idea of what had happened to said child that had been taken from her, but that didn't mean that it had to be one, big secret. it could have easily been something they could have been told years ago back when they had still been kids but when they'd all been old enough to understand what was happening around them. then maybe this whole thing with donny wouldn't have been such a shock to her system. of course it would have been a shock either way. having some mystery kid wind up on your front doorstep and learning he was in some way related to you was like a a-bomb to the senses. what carly couldn't wrap her head around was they why, the why in anything really.
after carly had made her mistakes and gotten pregnant, well she had operated under the assumption for the following nine months that she would have been a mother to that child. she had figured that things would have been hard, of course, that much was always a given, but she still would have done her dead-level best to be the mother that little girl deserved, and carly had been ready for it too. she had surrendered all outside distractions, or they had been taken from her, having gone through the misery of being pregnant in high school so she really had no reasons to not be a parent to her daughter, but still that hadn't stopped emilia from doing the same thing to carly that had been done to her. she had given her absolutely no say in the matter, no choice whatsoever, and she hadn't even forewarned her that it was a possibility she would up and take her daughter from her, but that had been what had happened. instead of discussing it with carly and even hinting at the possibility, she had reduced herself to taking her granddaughter away from her daughter in the most horrific sense and never letting her see her again. this from a woman whose baby had been ripped out of her life, someone who knew exactly what she felt. this from a woman who had gone and intentionally caused her daughter the exact same harm that had been done to her. it honestly didn't make sense.
following the line of things that didn't make sense was the fact that carly's half brother had come searching her out, but it turned out he didn't want to be family. talk about making a girl's head spin. she just didn't understand the logic, obviously. she understood why a person might go through the trouble of seeking out their real family. anyone who had been turned away in any sense of the word would have wanted to see who it was who had done the turning, which might had lead to some curiosity as to why, but again she had to wonder why he would seek out the suttons and yet not want anything to do with them. seeing them from a distance and making that judgment from afar was one thing, but this man, this stranger, had purposefully walked up to their front door and had rang the doorbell, looking ot search them out. he had intentionally gone through the motions of getting to the house in question and motivating himself enough to not only walk up the front steps, but to actually pick up his arm and press the doorbell. that kind of thing didn't happen just because you wanted to get a better look at the people who had shunned you. that kind of thing didn't happen because you didn't in some way want a connection to the people who were yours but whom you didn't think wanted you. so of course it made absolutely no sense to carly why he would show up and treat them with such hostility. like it was their fault that he was in the position that he was and that it was such an inconvenience to him that their mother had recognized him and needed to tell him about what had happened and why he hadn't been a part of their family.
it was that kind of frustration that had lead carly to a door that she had figured belonged to the kid who didn't want to be a sutton. you know, that was fine, but if that had been the case then he shouldn't have knocked on her door in the first place right? well really carly just wanted answers now. she just wanted to know what had possessed him to do such a thing if he'd wanted nothing to do with them in the first place. what she hadn't expected after knocking on the door, was to end up in this bickering match. the half naked man at the door confused her and the hostile one pretty much lead carly to believe that maybe it was something donny had gotten from his side of the family...or something he had just acquired. hell she didn't even know if she had the right house for crying out loud. "shut up for a minute!" she called out as the bickering began to intensify. "is a donny davis here? if so, can you tell him his sister's looking for him?" she trailed off, wondering if for a moment she'd gotten in deeper than she'd realized. so for safe measures she tacked on a final "please."

--- FAMILY was a touchy subject for any Siren. He had been curious about his birth family, or his mother's half. He knew all about them, thanks to the wonderful world of networks but he was stupid enough to want to meet them. He hadn't expected his birth mother to recognize him. Donny may have been a bit crass or mean, but he hadn't meant to. He had meant to be honest, and honestly? they were better off without him. He knew who he had really pissed off was Carly, his... half sister. It was strange to think that when it came to blood, that young starlet was just as much related to him as Izzy had been. They even looked alike which was strange since Iz and Carly shared no blood. Donny's eyes scanned the computer screen in front of him as he looked through some information on some of the big names in town. He had no real enemies in the crime world. He worked independently and for hire, no real loyalties as Heyward, the criminal world respected that. They knew he wouldn't turn against anyone for no reason. He was a trustworthy hire, which was important for keeping his business relatively clean in his mind. The only person he had recently pissed off was another hacker... if you wanted to call her that. He would call her a pre-hacker, Syl Rivers. She was good compared to what else was out there but... Donny was a hard guy to impress. She had even come by to confront him in a funny scene of annoyance and banter. He smiled slightly at the memory, she was fun to poke at. Donny looked up as he caught in the corner of his eye a familiar face on the screen monitor of the hidden camera's outside the house on the front porch. The front door was open, she was talking to someone. "Oh great."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
--- "THIS could be my future wife Widow and you're acting like you don't like my boxers." Kale complained with a tone of mock hurtness. Widow shook her head and put a hand on his shoulder, "Kale, you know I love your boxers, but aren't you already engaged? Like to six people?" Kale looked up to think for a moment before shaking the thoughts from his head, "I actually think I might be married a couple times over, but that's not the poin-" "shut up for a minute!" Both Kale and Widow stopped and looked back at the girl in the doorway. Widow raised her eyebrows, "Excuse me?" She replied, her anger bubbling to the surface for a moment before Kale put his arm out in front of her to remind her to calm down, "Wid." He said not even looking at her, he watched the girl on the porch as she spoke again, "is a donny davis here? if so, can you tell him his sister's looking for him?" Kale's friendly smile slowly turned into a frown. She was Carly? Of course she had to be hot. Oh yeah, he had seen her around, billboards, magazines and stuff. She was prettier in person though. He leaned against the door frame and sighed, "Well there goes our future wedding..."
--- WIDOW on the other hand went from having annoyance to having daggers in her eyes. She had always been protective of Donny, even when he was still a complete dork, he was her dork. She was closer to him than to Liz or Orion. She had seen how torn up and fucked up he had become from Isabel's death. What was this? some kind of joke? Widow wasn't even thinking of Donny's newly found relatives. All she saw was a girl who looked similar to Iz claiming to be Donny's sister, "What the hell kind of sick joke is that? She died five years ago." Widow snapped at her as Orion came to the door and put a hand on her shoulder, "Not that one Wid." Widow looked up at Orion and then at the girl, "Oh... right.... sorry." Widow added glancing at Carly, not sounding too regretful. She knew how he felt about the difference between blood relatives and family. She knew how crazy this whole surprise family had made him, even if he was better at hiding his feelings than he had once been. And he had told her all about his trip to the Sutton's. Carly was not exactly the girl Widow wanted around Donny, at least not from what she had heard. Then again, when it came to family, Wid's mind worked a lot more like Donny's.
--- ORION used his hand to guide Widow out of the way, "Come on in Carly." Ri spoke calmly, with a hint of welcome in his tone, trying to be civil and rational, classic Orion. Kale moved out of the way too, shutting the door behind her, "I'm gonna get back to work." He said sadly giving one last longing look to the pretty new brunette before making his way back into the dining room. The house didn't look like much. The Sirens were not really picky. From the main hallway she would be able to see a living room to the right, a dining room with a lot of soap bars and other cleaning products and house hold items, like batteries from Kale's work on home-made bombs, scattered all over, a large staircase in front of her but just to the left of the stair case a long hallway. It was a decent sized house, but it was old, semi-run down, but the wiring and ground work was solid, it was simply some chipping paint and a creaky wood panel here and there. It suited them well. Orion placed his hands in his pockets, to be honest, he felt pretty guilty, he had to be nice, her being here was a direct result of him accidentally telling Donny what he had heard. He just thought Donny had known. "Don't mind Kale, he's a bit... special." Only suitable word for the Brit in mountain dew boxers. He extended his hand to her, "I'm Orion, the brittish guy is Kale and this charmer is Widow." Wid winced at her just as Donny came practically running down the stairs.
--- DONNY gave her an awkward momental smile, "Hey." He said as he slowed and descended the last few steps, "What... W-what are you... I mean, how are you? What a surprise." He finished, definitely attempting politeness. Widow shifted her weight, "He means what the hell are you doin- hmmf" Widow began but was quieted by Orion's hand over her mouth. "Yeah, Im going to take this one out of here" He nodded to Donny as he sort of pulled Widow out of the room with him, "Sorry" he added to Carly before he headed into the kitchen before he finally let go. Donny watched Orion and everyone clear out of the main hallway before he looked back at Carly. "She's protective but she's actually a good person." He said plainly. He and Widow had always been very close.

carly didn't understand why things like this had to happen. why couldn't her mother have just told them what was going on. it was obvious that the suttons were a mature bunch. they were all hard working and responsible individuals who wanted nothing more than to make it good in life. when things were hard they had buckled down and turned a bad situation around. they were fully capable of hearing news like this and dealing with it just like they had dealt with everything else they had come into contact with. births, deaths, scandals, and secrets. they'd always gotten through it as a family so why couldn't they have done so with information like this? carly wouldn't have minded knowing that out there was some other big brother figure just waiting to be found. it probably wouldn't have changed anything about her life in general but at least then she wouldn't have been so blindsided by the news when donny had come walked through that door some few days ago. this was weird. this was more than weird. this was an impossible situation and carly would admit that she hadn't handled it well. maybe if she had known about this big brother she would have acclimated a little better to the whole situation. instead she had gotten more than defensive and she'd freaked out on him on more than one occasion. she just wanted to be in the loop. she didn't want any more surprises. she'd had plenty of surprises in life and out of all of those only a handful had been actual good surprises. she just liked being prepared and she couldn't be so much when people lied to her or kept things from her. she just felt the least bit betrayed, like she wasn't trustworthy enough to know such information when all the while her mother knew that some day it was possible that this kid could end up on her doorstep and that she would have some good amount of explaining to do. why not avoid that all together.
of course carly couldn't control that now. she knew what she knew and she'd known it at the last minute and there was nothing that was going to change that because time travel had still not been successfully unlocked. it was a bummer on all counts but what more could she do? well she could end up at the doorstep of her newly found big brother and try to smooth things over. he hadn't seemed all too interested in hearing what she'd had to say before but maybe with a little time to sit around and let the notion steep he might be a little more interested in hearing what she had to say. hell she didn't even know what she wanted to say. there was probably a few choice words that could come to mind but really? what could she say today that she hadn't said a few days ago? the only difference might have been that her words might be a little kinder, and that all depended on him and how he reacted to the words she said. donny's door greeters certainly weren't helping the situation. for one thing the guy who was standing at the door scared the crap out of her. he was wearing...well god only knew and he seemed to be more concerned with getting her down the aisle than he was with letting her into the house. well that was all well and good but she didn't even know this guy and carly wasn't the most trusting of other people. that much should have been obvious really, but how would this guy have known? still he was fun to watch. that had to be better than nothing. the woman on the other hand, not so much. she seemed a bit overbearing and overconfident and carly knew that the minute she mentioned donny's name that she had leveled her gaze at her like she was ready to burn a hole straight through her. great. this was just what she needed, more people ready to kill her.
yeah carly had a list of people that apparently wanted to off her and it seemed to be growing more by the second. she had a russian backing but really she didn't know how necessary it was. carly had stalkers and she had creepers and she knew that there were people out there who wanted to hurt her. hell she'd been dragged away at a premiere by a psychopath at one point so the fact that her life was in danger really wasn't that much of a shock to her. of course her life would be so much easier if that wasn't the case. she would have much rather just been a normal person who never had these kinds of worries but carly wasn't suited for that life. as much as she might have liked the idea of being normal and of never having to worry about the kind of things she was concerned about, she really liked what she did for a living. it suited her better than just about anything else out there. she liked being a celebrity and part of her liked the moments of glitz and glamour that she was subjected to. those times when she had to walk down a red carpet in a dress that was a size too tight that didn't let her breathe properly was actually pretty rare. as a dancer carly wasn't subjected to all of the things that those role model-esque celebrities and television stars had to deal with. she was cute and people were moderately familiar with her but if she didn't wear her usual makeup and put her hair back in a cap she could get away with just walking down the street like a normal human being. even then sometimes she liked the recognition, she just always made a point to ensure that her daughter was protected.
this though was a situation that carly wasn't used to. she wasn't used to being stared down by a woman who looked like she wanted to rip carly's head off or a man who looked like he was blatantly stripping her with his gaze. and if it hadn't been for someone stepping in and letting her inside carly wasn't sure what would have happened. "i don't know if i've come at a bad time or anything...i just...i don't know. i needed to talk to him." she said to the rather large, hulking man who had let her into the house. after a moment she noticed donny coming downstairs and flashing him a quick, noncommittal smile. "uh hi. honestly i don't know why i'm here. i guess i just wanted to try to...um, smooth things over? my mother's a good woman and she deserves a chance and i just want to try to convince you to give her one." carly said with a shrug. she didn't really look him in the eye or anything, she just kind of stared over his shoulder. she didn't know how to react to this any better than anyone else.

--- REMIND Donny to thank Orion for getting the crazies away from Carly. Orion was always the sane one. Thing was, he knew why they were on edge... or why widow was on edge. And he knew why Kale now looked so sad. Kale it was because he knew he wasn't allowed to hit on anyone related to Donny. Just like Donny would never hit on anyone related to Kale although, thinking about it. Donny did not really think Kale was related to anyone. Be an interesting thing to learn though. After all, just look at Kale. Donny really didn't know much at all about Kale actually. Kale knew Donny was Heyward but Donny did not have a clue who Kale was. Every time he saw him when they were younger, Kale had a different name. When they met, kale was a boy named Harrington Chaucer. Yeah, Donny thought it was a funny name too and was not surprised at all when he found out it was a fake name. Harry, as Donny called him then, was psychotic for a 17 year old. Loud, funny, and he could do one thing, Donny was horrible at, talk to women. At 17 Harry had already been with multiple women. And boy did he enjoy it. Donny still preferred the idea of really loving a girl before fucking her. He was still an innocent despite everything. Harry was also in the crime world, he was known around the crime circles as Basher. He was a munitions expert for hire. Got along with Kenny too, Kale Harry got along with everyone then.
--- ONE night though was what really started their friendship. During a raid, Donny tagged along with Basher who was going to go do his job with the sirens. But got stuck in the mess after Basher rigged it. Donny was almost blown to bits that night. His father saw and just turned away, giving him a small, almost jokative salute before he kept running. Basher was the one who risked the timing, went back in and got Donny out of there. Donny owed the basher, Kale Barker, his life. You do not forget it when your father leaves you to die with a amusement and a practical stranger at the time, runs back to save you. That night really was the best example of what type of man Donny grew up with as a father figure. It wasn't much of one. By that age though, Donny had grown so used to it, he had not been surprised at all his father left him. He would have been surprised if his father had returned. No, but the amused salute? That was what really pissed Donny off. After that night, Donny had lost all care about gaining dear ol' dad's approval. It all of a sudden became all about him getting as powerful as he could, and as famous as he could to prove to himself he was better than anything his father could achieve. And one day, when his father was lying on his death bed, he would tell him. He would let his dad know, that he had among him one of the best hackers the world had ever seen, next to him for years. Holding back and surpassing him in secret so the man wouldn't earn a damn penny. It was a day Donny looked forward to.
--- FAMILY had obviously become a touchy subject to him. He simply defined the word as something very different than the rest of the world did. It was a word all of the Sirens had a problem with. But you know? Out of all of them, there was only one that truly did not have anyone in their family growing up to be close to. Liz had Kenny. Orion had Kenny. Donny had Izzy. Widow? She had no one but her father, Darren. Darren of course being the reason Kenny was dead and indirectly, the reason Iz was dead. He was the reason Widow was used. He was the reason Widow got so panicked when someone said they loved her, friend, family or lover. Now that Donny had found out what Darren did to her, he was glad the bastard was dead. If Liz hadn't killed him Donny may have. Widow always had his back, he would have hers. Although, he knew that was what troubled her so much. Part of her still loved him, Darren was her dad after all. He wondered why he had never felt like that. Donny, one hundred percent, did not love his father, and while his dad was an ass, he didn't come close to Darren. But Donny had no confusion anymore, he hated the man... Maybe it was possible family meant more to Widow than it did to him, which was surprising a bit.
--- BUT that didn't really matter now did it? What mattered was that there was a twenty year old celebrity dancer standing in his hallway that happened to be his half sister by blood. He nodded a thanks as Orion pulled Widow away and glanced over at a depressed looking Kale before looking back at Carly. He had to admit. Of all the people to come over to look for him, he was surprised it was her. She didn't seem to like him much, understandably. But she had definitely been the person he clashed with most. "uh hi. honestly i don't know why i'm here. i guess i just wanted to try to...um, smooth things over? my mother's a good woman and she deserves a chance and i just want to try to convince you to give her one." Donny furrowed his brow slightly, and shook his head, "It's not like ever said she wasn't." He said plainly before looking up and seeing Kale watching. Donny rolled his eyes and gestured up the stairs. "Why don't we talk in my room?" He offered, jogging up and holding the door for her. He very rarely let people into his room but it was pretty much the only place in the house he knew they could talk without people spying.
--- HE walked into the room after her, thankful all his computers were off or asleep. It still was a strange site, his room was still very teched out, one bookshelf with a picture of him and Iz on it. Tron poster on the wall. A bed with a black comforter, a dresser with another picture of Him, Iz and with Wid, and that was actually pretty much it. He kept things to a minimum. "Look, I never said I wouldn't... you know, get to know her." Donny began as he shut the door and gestured to the computer chair for Carly, not sure what to say, a rarity for him, "Like I said before, I wasn't expecting her to recognize me, but since she did things were different." He added, "But I can't just jump in with open arms... I don't know if you noticed... I'm not really good at the whole 'family' thing." He replied with a bit of a jokative tone at the end. |

what to do, what to do. carly honestly didn't know. none of this was well known territory to carly. how often was it that you found out you had some sibling you never knew about that your mother had lied about? carly wasn't taking it well in any sense of the word and she knew it. she'd lashed out at donny more than once that day and since then, yeah, she'd kind of felt bad about it. only halfway so though. carly didn't understand how a person couldn't at least occupy the thought that whoever you were checking out might recognize you or realize who you were. it seemed like donny hadn't even thought about the possibility. maybe he didn't think that blood could recognize blood. well that had turned out well hadn't it? instead they’d all scared the guy half to death but for some reason carly couldn't shake it. he couldn't have at least seen this as a possibility? and what? what if they had noticed him but hadn't thought him some long lost relative but instead though him some stalker? what then? if they had called the cops and they had scared donny off then what would have happened? would they have ever seen him again? carly wondered if donny used it as an excuse, because it was a half decent one. if they turned out to be a group of people that donny didn't like he could simply say that it hadn't ever been his intention to really meet them in the first place and he could just walk away from them for good. could he really do that?
of course donny hadn't been raised with the same familial ideals as the suttons had but they were still willing to welcome him for the most part. carly was the only skeptical one and that was simply because she didn't like how he played his cards. he played the situation with one foot out the door and one foot inside so that he could use any excuse to run if he saw fit. well wasn't that nice. the rest of the world could likely use a situation like that as well but it didn't mean that every individual got one. not everyone could walk around dancing around a situation like they were ready to just walk out and leave. did a father of a newborn kid just put up his hands and say i'm done when the kid cries to much, packs up his stuff, and disappears for good? well yes in some cases that was true but those people were all considered douche bags. donny didn't seem like one of those and yet it seemed like he had some wild card up his sleeve to play that could, should he use it, ruin her mother and ruin her family for good. carly wasn't going to apologize for questioning that when the sanctity of her family was in jeopardy. and yes she held for of a respect and admiration for the family she'd grown up with as opposed to this man. what was she supposed to do? embrace him with open arms? something told carly that if she tried that donny would run away from her and with good reason. she didn't want to go hugging any new mystery members of her family any more than he did which he obviously did not.
all she wanted was for him to give her mother, his mother, their mother a chance. she wasn't even asking for the sake of the whole family. she would let donny pick and choose which suttons he liked as long as it meant that her mother would be happy but even then he seemed so unwilling. she had no idea what home life he'd grown up in as a child but it couldn't have been anything like the life that the suttons had lived, one of relying on one another and working as a family group to make sure all the ends were met and that everyone got fed, clothed, and were about to bathe in warm water as opposed to cold. they had a tight bond, that much carly understood, but from her perspective she hadn't seen her clan as anything more than welcoming. still she had to make an effort for her mother. that was why she was here. carly was determined to invite him to dinner with the family. if he turned her down then so be it. it was his choice and he would stop pushing so much. after all she was sick and tired of the back and forth and the tension. she wanted this to be over about as much as the next person did. so this was her attempt and so far it wasn't going any better than her first try the day she'd met him. she'd butted heads with him so bad her brother had needed to intervene, shocking, and to an extent carly felt bad about it but to an extent she also felt like she was protecting something be it family or whatever the heck it was she felt like she was protecting.
she headed into his room after him, awestruck by the amount of technology there was in his room. and she could barely make a dvd player function. this was certainly interesting. she walked around, not touching anything but still taking in what little sights there were to be found. she noticed a picture of donny with a brunette he didn't recognized that, she dare say, look similar to her in a sense. he looked happy. this girl of course wasn't one she'd seen downstairs. maybe she would be a little less interesting to talk to in the sense that she wouldn't fear winding up in a vegas shotgun wedding or dead in a ditch somewhere. she plopped down in the computer chair as donny had gestured, focusing back in on him and not so much at the plethora of stuff in his room. "you can't just deny it either. yes you weren't expecting her to recognize you but it happened. you need to stop acting like you still have some kind of out because you don't. whether you wanted it or not your family just got bigger. there's no going back now because we know you exist and that's always going to be there in the back of our minds whether or not you plan on sticking around. you're half sutton now. suck it up." she palmed her forehead, massaging her temples with a groan. "come to dinner. try it out. if you don't like it then i'll stop trying because honestly this is like hitting my head against a brick wall and i'm too busy doing things for my family and more my job to sit around here and beg you to try. so once and then you're free and clear. i won't bother you anymore."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #121e4e solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]We will never be anything but loud and nitty gritty
--- DONNY knew that as soon as the door opened and Carly left, he would get bombarded by questions, mostly from Widow. It was strange how both similar and different Widow and him were. When it came to interests, they were vastly different. When it came to how they viewed themselves, self image and all that, again vastly different. Despite Widow being the beauty queen she was, she saw herself with hate. Donny quite liked himself, at least he thought so. But the way they interacted with the world, at the core, actually was fairly close to identical. Everything at an arm's length. Nothing even close to close except for those few who have proven themselves through out YEARS of loyalty. And even with those few, no sad, lengthy, pathetic heart felt conversation. If you're upset enough to let it show, and the other's get wind, someone will end up getting a beat down by the rest of group for hurting you. And to demonstrate how serious something must be for Donny or Wid or anyone of them really to react, Donny just found out about a whole other family he had a birth right to be a part of. A family that was not insane, at least they didn't seem so... maybe carly. not the point, he still didn't really communicate to anyone in the group about it. He told them it was going on but the emotion was stone faced. As was expected of him.
--- THE truth was, he did care. He cared way more than he felt he should. Not so much about this mythical bond of blood relatives but about what actually happened. When he had gone to the Sutton's house and his birth mother, Ms. Sutton, when she told them the story about what had happened to her, and even before that, when he first found out from Orion... the rape. It was not that he was surprised by his dad's actions, he wasn't. He knew it had happened before with his dad but to know that he was actually created out of an act so... It's just, he knew how badly raped screwed with a person's head. He had seen it's affects on Liz and Widow. He understood, as well as a person who had never been raped could, how horrible rape truly was and to know that he was only created because of something so evil. It was messing with his head a bit. All his life, he had been taught there was something wrong with him. It took him a good number of years for him to teach himself that he was fine, there was something wrong with everyone else. He learned it in pieces from being around 17 until just this past year. And yet here this was and boom. Hey, you're only alive because of your father traumatizing an innocent woman.
--- AND then, he goes over to their house and after a very short and awkward meeting, they immediately sit him down and she goes through the whole story of what happened. He understood that Emilia needed to explain, and he understood why she hadn't told her children about what had happened until then but imagine it. Even without his shitty up bringing. You meet your birth mother for the first time and immediately she tells you the story about how your conception and birth was one of the worst experiences in her life? It was like his very existence was under attack, not that he thought she had meant it that way in the slightest. It was an experience that caused him to feel ways he has been fighting his whole life. He refused to go back to self hatred and self pity. I guess, Donny just did not understand how Emilia would be able to look at and not just see the physical manifestation of her rape. He didn't understand how someone could not despise the reminder hanging around, wasn't that why even some pro-lifers believe abortion was okay in cases of rape? I guess, his question would be why didn't she just abort? And yet she had tried to be warm and welcoming. It just confused him. "you can't just deny it either." Donny watched Carly as he crossed the floor and sat down on the edge of his bed, moving some of the papers. He rolled his eyes slightly, glancing down at the floor while leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees, as she continued, but he kept his mouth shut until she was finished. "you're half sutton now. suck it up."
--- DONNY tilted his head up to look at the brunette. They had similar coloring. Hair, even skin tone, she was a bit tanner, but she probably spent more time in the sun than he did. "I just said things were different since she recognized me. I said that back at your house as well, so stop trying to put words in my mouth." Donny replied rather sternly. "You act like I intentionally wanted to blow a hole in your family and then escape with the last safety boat. Honestly, I assumed you guys would have already known, after all it's been 24 years." Donny added with a shrug, his tone getting a bit lighter again, he didn't want to sound stern, even when he sometimes felt flat out angry. He needed to stay controlled, "come to dinner. try it out. if you don't like it then i'll stop trying" Donny stood up as he listened to her proposal. He walked towards the wall with his dresser and leaned against it, glancing at the picture of Iz briefly. He sighed and nodded. He turned back to Carly, "If Emilia wants me to come to dinner I will." He was only nervous because if she asked about him? What could he tell her that was real? |

she didn't know what to do in a situation like this. how could she fight everything that she was feeling in order to just be open with this guy, this stranger and try and get him to the sutton house. she knew inviting him to dinner was a long shot but she would do anything for the sake of her mother, even if she did feel betrayed by the woman. she didn't know why she was feeling so skeptical of this guy. she knew he had the power to come in and turn their world upside down because he'd already done so but he had the power to do so much more. carly knew her mother. she knew that emilia would let him go if she really had to because it was something he wanted but it would eat her up inside for years, if not the rest of her lifetime. and even though this woman had betrayed her daughter so badly carly couldn't help but to bleed a little for her cause. it was true that there was a piece that carly just couldn't get over and that was the fact that her mother, this woman who had been raped and had her child stolen from her, had ripped carly's own baby from her arms in order to give them to another couple, a couple who, if carly hadn't intervened years down the road, would have held onto her daughter for the rest of her life. to carly the hypocrisy was unforgivable. since the moment she'd found out she was pregnant carly knew what she wanted. she'd wanted to raise that baby and be a mother because of the situation she had caused. she knew she'd been stupid to let herself be so unprotected when she'd been with her at the time boyfriend and she knew that it had been foolish and immature but she'd wanted to stand up for what she did. carly didn't just want to raise lily because it was her job to do for being so stupid. she had needed that kick in the butt to pull her from the immature life she'd been leading and to really set her straight. it wasn't just obligation. carly didn't just want to raise lily because she'd made the mistake and gotten pregnant. the minute she'd found out she just knew she could do it. she knew she wanted to be a mother. it wasn't about proving to anyone that she would do it. it wasn't about proving to herself that she could do it. it was about turning away from a selfish life that had given her nothing but trouble and focusing her life and all of her efforts into someone else, someone who wasn't her. lily deserved the world and carly had more than any intention of giving her that world.
so why do something for someone who had taken your child? why try to bring back the child that person lost? because she was family. carly had a real passion for her family and whether she wanted to admit it or not, this guy was now family. it wasn't so much that she hated him, because carly tried not to hate anyone who didn't deserve it, she was just overly cautious when it came to donny. he had to ability to really hurt her family so above all else she was protective. she didn't want to see anyone hurt because of something that was done, should have been done, etc. or something that was said or shouldn't have been said. this whole situation, in carly's eyes, was a ticking time bomb and she didn't want it to go off around her family. as much as she wanted him to be involved and she wanted her mother to feel whole again she still wanted to protect them and that was half of her inward battle here. she wanted him to be part of her family for the sake of her mother and to try and really get to know him but his hesitation made her skeptical and made her wonder if he was just looking for whatever was in it for him. well there wasn't much there to begin with. it wasn't like they were rich people. carly was a star and she had the money from endorsement deals and projects that she'd done since she'd won american dance but that didn't belong to her. in carly's opinion it belonged to lily. it belonged to her college fund and to help her live a good, suitable life. carly had given back ot her parents as much as she could. she'd done her absolute best to help them whenever they needed it and didn't ask for it. take the situation post-earthquake. carly had made a point to fix up their house, basically from the ground up, and she'd given them everything that the suttons had never had growing up. she'd given them everything they needed. that was her thank you to them for raising her right and sticking with her through the hardest of times. it was just what family did for one another and she was willing to help out anyone who wanted to be her family but this guy? she just wasn't sure about him. it was a lot to take in and it was something that was going to take a long time, maybe even years, for him to really come to terms with but carly just did not want her family to get hurt and seeing so little from him, seeing so much resistance, made it hard to think about the future and the likelihood that he'd be in it.
she glared at him as he scolded her. flat out glared at him. maybe he hadn't gotten too much protection in his life but couldn't he see that that was what she was doing for her family? couldn't he see that she was looking out for them and in a way she was looking out for him too? because lord only knew that if he stepped into their world, if he got himself involved with the suttons only to rip their world apart, she would never let him live it down. she would end him. she would hunt him until the end of the earth. but she was just protective. granted she knew that most of this was probably all her fault. she knew that she was probably being irrational and she tried to scold herself as the words came out of her mouth but they just seemed to flow so much easier than the contrary words of her conscience. "no we didn't. which is probably why this is so hard for me to deal with." she sighed, scrubbing a hand through her hair and giving it a little fluff. "i know i haven't made this easy. i don't deal with this kind of thing well if it's not obvious because honestly i was blindsided. you're right we probably should have known about it by now and i'm shocked that something this huge was kept from us." she nodded as donny agreed to come, not giving a smile because she just couldn't manage that at this time. "good. i know you probably don't want to hear this, but she loves you. it's just in her nature. she doesn't have to know you or know anything about you but she loves you because you're her baby. even if she didn't get to raise you, didn't get to see those big milestones like first steps, first day of school, first girlfriend, all of that...i know in her mind she saw it all play out as the years went on. if you spend enough time with her i think you'll see it. she loves you the same as she does all of her other four kids. you watch." she pushed out of the chair to her feet. she'd gotten what she came for, a promise, and she wasn't about to stick around to make things worse. "i should go. i'm sure you'll have a lot to deal with seeing as how i pissed off that other one. good luck." she said with a half chuckle as she opened up the door and headed downstairs and out the door.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #121e4e solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]We will never be anything but loud and nitty gritty
--- DONALD Davis knew what protecting family was all about, he was just not used to the idea that it extended to blood relatives, because the two were very different to him. Other than Isabel, he couldn't stand anyone in his family. Not his father, not his older brother, Jordan, not his little siblings. He didn't mind his cousin Andrew but he was not the closest to the guy. But for Izzy? for Widow? Even Liz. He would give his life in a second. Jordan, his older brother, was probably the biggest asshole you could ever meet, okay maybe not the BIGGEST but he was close. Tall, broody guy. Strong, definitely. He was the golden child of the Davis offspring. The first born son, the strong athletic one, because while Donny had always been fit, he hadn't really become toned until the last five years. Jordan was cutthroat and tough, and he was good at what he did. Although, as Donny admits that , he also didn't see what was so challenging about torturing people, other than keeping your lunch down as you did so. Donny was good in a fight, and better since he embraced the Heyward in him more, but he was not a seemingly unstoppable force like Jordan was. Jordan took pleasure in it, he was called an "extractor" because he was able to extract information from just about anyone. Everyone in this business knows that eventually every person has their breaking point, Jordan had an uncanny ability to get to that breaking point quickly. No hesitation, just dove in. He always talked about the five basic torture groups. blunt, sharp, hot, cold, and loud. He very rarely dealt in the sixth group: choke. He said it was harder to control choke, if you under-do it, it is hardly torture and if you overdo it, you could kill the victim by accident. It's very fine like. Donny ruined lives over the internet as yes, by now he had killed three people. But to spend a day just slowly torturing a person? It just seemed unnecessary.
--- DONNY had power when he was on a computer. He loved that power. He loved that his name as Heyward was larger than his brother's or even his father's. Donny got off on knowing he did not need to leave his room to effect the lives of people hundreds of miles away, thousands even. Donny had a feeling that hacking had saved his life. He made more friends with the Hughes kids, Widow, Liz, Kenny but mostly he was only close to his sister Isabel. Everyone else around him pissed him off, but even Wid, Liz and Kenny had a tendency to talk down to him. Everyone seemed to think he was weak. He was too thin to take on the fighting, he was smart but soft hearted with thin skin. He's a liability, he's weird. He's too snarky. He's got too much of a smart mouth. He felt powerless. But when his fingers hit that keyboard, he was in his world. The world they lived in was Electronic. Everyone had cells on them 24/7, everyone had an email. Every bank account accessible online, money was now for the most part just electronic representations on a screen. Birth records, Serial numbers, social security, police records, all security cams work together on some type of network that is hackable, everything is in his reach when he gets ahold of a strong enough computer and it was a rush. Hacking was the world's best drug for the young boy who was considered a weakling. He knew better and he laughed at the ignorance of the people around him. By thirteen he caused a blackout in London, from a computer at a public library. Why? Because it was fuckin' fun. And he wanted to bring attention to himself. Not to Donny mind you, but to Heyward. And it worked. The hacker was infamous, everyone looking for some genius man in his 20s or 30s, maybe older when really the person they wanted was a thirteen year old kid who had a hard time stepping on ants. Without hacking, Donny would have either committed suicide, or ended up some depressed, pathetic guy who was stuck do chores in the warehouse the Sirens resided in. Computers had really done him a solid.
--- DESPITE the awkwardness of the situation, Donny was still a born Siren. And that meant certain things, but most of all, it meant you could pretend to not care so well, you could convince yourself that non of it mattered. Walls as long as the Great Wall of China and as tall as the empire state building. Grand Canyons worth of secrets and scars, both mental and physical, etched into your body. And the Siren response was to laugh, move on, and forget while you rake in some more money. Seeing Carly glare at him was, regretfully, a bit amusing to him. But he didn't say anything. "no we didn't. which is probably why this is so hard for me to deal with." Donny listened as Carly said she was not handling what was going very well. Understandable, he guessed. Shit was important to normal families right? "maybe she just wanted to protect you. As you probably guessed, my dad's not exactly a king among thieves." Donny replied casually with a shrug. It probably did protect them, if any of them knew and were stupid enough to go looking for him they would have been walking into a bear trap really. Although, who knows, if they looked when he was like eleven, his dad might have thrown Donny back to them, saying he was worthless anyways. Maybe Donny would have less lash marks on his back. "good. i know you probably don't want to hear this, but she loves you." Donny did his best not to scoff but there was definitely a small disbelieving shake of his head as Carly spoke of how much Emilia loved him because he was her son, whether she raised him or not. It was not something he could understand, love for someone you didn't know. "she loves you the same as she does all of her other four kids. you watch."
--- DONNY stood as Carly did. "Yeah sure." He said plainly, clearly not believing her but not fighting her on it. There was enough fighting between them already. He just couldn't see it. She didn't know him, and really all he was was the physical manifestation of her rape. How could anyone love that? How was he supposed to see her without feeling guilty he was born? At least he didn't look like his dad. It was a little too far fetched for him, but perhaps he would be proven wrong. Of course, if she was really that much of an incredible human being, then he should probably leave her alone, living the life he did. Fucking hell, he hated being confused. It was not something that happened often. "i should go. i'm sure you'll have a lot to deal with seeing as how i pissed off that other one. good luck." Donny smiled slightly, shrugged, "Heh, nah. Wid's just protecting her family." He said plainly, as he walked her out of the room, "you guys have that in common right?" He said down to her as she headed down the stairs. He stood there a moment before jogging down the stairs after her, "Wait, what time?" He asked, about the dinner he had just contracted himself to.
